I should also add that being an amateur short filmmaker/writer myself, I'm interested in how they do the writing and production of this show. In one of the podcasts where the creators were talking about the writing process, they did note that they never introduce an element of the show without knowing how that plotline will be resolved. (For instance, the very first time you see the hatch -- when Locke tosses the flashlight to Boone -- they had already decided exactly what would be in the hatch and how that play out.) They said that they decided on that after several conversations with Mark Frost (Lynch's Twin Peaks co-creator); that was apparently Twin Peaks' undoing. (ie They would introduce plotlines without having any idea how they were going to wrap them up.)
