1. Sorry to hear.
Are you in pain?
I had a root canal done yesterday and I'm in pain.

3. I'm in pain.
But it's getting better by the hour.

I wish I could have gotten a root canal and a cap, but I have no insurance and root canal is like $3000. The extraction was $360.

7. You're right on the price
I have no insurance and will have to pay that in cold cash. It hurts to pay that kind of money.
The only thing I've been given for the pain is ibuprofen. Perhaps you should try it for the pain.
I have a headache, I think from the sedative and anesthesia.

21. They robbed you on the extraction too. BUT your relief as you're finding
will increase hour by hour. I hope they cautioned you about the potential of dry socket.

It's also wierd when the gum around the tooth site wrinkles and you can feel it.

I had to have my 2 bottom first molars removed a couple years ago, but it's a matching removal. They were baby molars with no adult teeth under them, and decades of trying to save them finally ran out. The relief was instantaneous.

You seem to have been charged quite a lot for that, and the price for the crown is ridiculous. Get a new dentist or as someone else said, check out a nearby dental college.

24. they gave me a flyer with instructions
Edited on Sat Jul-29-06 12:56 PM by Kire
they said I don't have to worry about dry sockets as long as I drink lots of fluids and don't smoke

I was going to say "are they wrong about that too?", but that would be asking for medical advice

thanks for the input

18. You would have to pay $3000 for a root canal. Where do you live.
I had a root canal and crown for $1000, if I wouldn't have been so stupid all I would have needed was crown.

Hope you feel better soon.

Look into a dental discount card, most Dentist take them and you can save a lot of money.

8. Good for you!
Would that be a problem, if he had prescribed something strong? I'm just curious, nothing personal.

12. You mean after the tooth is pulled it does that?
Jeezus, my tooth was so crushed it was doing that and it was driving me insane. I pulled the tooth to avoid that. I really should have gotten a root canal and crown, then.

15. Thanks
I'm amazed. It's only been about 27 hours and I hardly notice the pain. Only when I press on my cheek with my hand.

17. My dentist prescribed a non-narcotic pain killer but
it cost $40 bucks a whack...so I took aspirin instead. Congrats on staying sober.
