Kids' Show Host Fired For Starring In 'Technical Virgin' Video
<snip>

NEW YORK -- The PBS Kids Sprout network has fired the host of "The Good Night Show," after learning she had appeared in videos called "Technical Virgin."

Melanie Martinez is a stage actress and the mother of a toddler, and appeared in the videos seven years ago.

In the two "Technical Virgin" videos, which were made before Martinez landed the children's show job, she spoofs public service announcements about how young women can keep their virginity.

Martinez had alerted network officials about one of the "Technical Virgin" videos late last week and she was taken off the air.

Network President Sandy Wax said it was determined that the dialogue in the videos was "inappropriate" for Martinez's role as a preschool program host. A notice on the PBS Kids Sprout Web site said the videos may undermine her character's credibility with the audience.

Airing for three hours each evening, "The Good Night Show" airs soothing stories and cartoons designed to get an audience of 2- to-5-year-olds ready for bed. Each night, Martinez guides a puppet character into dreamland.

The network said Martinez had been important part of their network and that they were disappointed that they had to make the "difficult decision" to let her go.

1. WHAT WILL WE TELL THE CHILDREN?!?!??!
Apparently how to do BJ's and to take it up the pooper so they can claim to still have their virginity.

I was wondering why her picture was on Yahoo.

3. People are so uptight.

The 2-5 year olds aren't going to be watching "Technical Virgin" and neither will most of the parents. Even if she did something "unwholesome," it's absurd to have it follow her job to job.

On edit: I watched the short. It was funny. She was talking about anal sex, but she's dressed like a freaking Mormon, so it's hardly like she did a porn or anything. The forums at iFilms are filled with parents that want her back because their kids like her. Apparently, parents seem to be okay with her being a tv role model for their kids on PBS. I guess, they're just not as anal (pun intended) as the folks at PBS.

5. And you know, if PBS hadn't made such a big deal about this
I doubt any kiddies would have known about it, nor would they have found this on the 'net. This sort of puritanical punishment for what one did in the past is getting completely out of hand. I mean really now, it seems that when she did these videos she was an actress just starting out, and needing a bit of cash. Neither of these spoofs are any worse than anything put out by SNL, yet PBS is giving her the boot. :wtf: Sorry, but this is just going overboard. PBS took this whole matter and blew it all out of proportion, and sadly Melanie Martinez has to pay.

cause that was a stupid move to fire her for that.

wouldn't want them to pass on that kind of stupid to the young 'uns.
