1. we had to do it as part of our P.E. class in grade school
along with high-jump. I hated every minute of it, as I'm not athletic in that way, and it scared me. :scared:

But I like to watch it now...

2. Oh, yeah - all the time, on and off the team, on the bus and off the bus,
sometimes in the locker room, even sometimes at work, and also when I... oh, wait - you said "vaulter"?

Never mind.

3. PV veteran here ...
I pole-vaulted in high school, 1977-80.

I used a fiberglass Pacer pole made by AMF -- white shaft with blue and red label. They were common at the time.

I was influenced to take up pole vaulting by the success of Bob Seagren in the Olympics.

It's an extremely difficult event: Witness the Olympic debacles of Stacy Dragila, Sergei Bubka and Dan O'Brien.

Unfortunately, I wasn't a natural pole vaulter, so I won't tell you my PR. ;-)

4. Seven feet six inches with an aluminum pole in jr. high-
just over ten feet with fiberglass in high school. I missed going to regionals by a mere six feet.
