7. I can tell you how.
Go to www.photobucket.com and sign up with them. It's free.

Once you get that, hit the "browse" button to choose a photo from your computer, and then hit "submit."

After the photo is uploaded, highlight the text box under the photo that says "URL", right click and select copy.

When you get to the "post" screen in DU just right click again and hit "paste." Then "post message."

Hopefully that'll do ya. :hi:

60. No, that's cool.
If you have a photo editing program there should be an option to change the size of the pictures. I usually use around 400x600 pixels. Or around there, anyway.

77. Photobucket has a feature that lets you shrink your pics, under "edit".
It has 2 choices, 50% and 25% I believe, with pics that big, go with 25% first and see what it looks like.

You can click on the pic to see what the actual size will be.

Ginger won't get to 25 pounds. When he was about two years old, his vet politely took me aside and whispered, "Ginger is getting a little 'on the limit'. No more people food for him." He's not exactly lean and mean, but I don't want another lecture from the vet.

tops out at 28 lbs)...

We wiggled out by telling him that he belonged to my father in law, who let him eat people food. And we weren't fibbing. Try as we might, with all the trimming food in the world, we can't get him to lose weight. He's very healthy though.

and sorry I called her a "he." Interestingly enough, someone did that to my Jimmy (who is a BC mix, too)! He has a tail that's about 5-6" long! Not like a Rottie stub, but a tiny short little tail. Poor little guy, but I laugh at him all the time because he literally stands on his head when he's happy and wags his little tail at me. I call it his little goat tail.

I so wish I knew his history, although he seems VERY happy now. As does Seneca, I'm sure!!

Waggles...she's literary and likes to play fetch. Thinks she's a dog:

Then there's Cookie...Psycho Kitty, Jr. She's the spitting image of her mother. In every way. A more insane cat doesn't exist, but she worships the ground my youngest son walks on:

Velvet, who has the tiniest little meow. The only one of them that wears a bell because otherwise, she's so quiet it's scary:

Patches is eighteen years old. Older all but my oldest son and going through baby withdrawal. She got so used to them when the kids were little and I was doing daycare that now I have to keep a baby blanket handy for her to sleep on:

Edited on Sun Jul-09-06 01:28 AM by Madrone
He's still having trouble understanding why the feeling's not ever quite mutual. ;)

He's great. He respects the cats, and knows that Iago is the only one that will let him get some licks in with a minimum of protest so he usually confines his affection to that cat.

He loves chasing the ferrets all over the house - he gets ferret obsessed sometimes during those moments. Mainly I worry he'll step on one - not that he'll ever hurt one purposely. Once he cornered one of the ferrets and next thing I knew he lifted his head up and had a ferret dangling from his lip. He was very slow and deliberate in movement and completely at a loss for what to do about having a ferret attached to his face. He never retaliated or got more "wound up" - which I was briefly afraid would happen. He likes being a tattletale - he noticed me yelling at the ferts once for flinging their litter out of the box and around their cage - now anytime they do it he launches into loud barking at the ferret - then runs and "tells" me they're being bad before running back to bark at them some more.

The bird he pretty much ignores (it's not tame, so it doesn't come out of it's cage really) although when Poncho flew out of his cage once and I had to go find gloves to pick him up in another room the dog watched him intently but never moved. He also poked Poncho in the chest with his nose once, when he (Poncho) was perched in the door to his cage when I opened it to refill his water. Just a light poke.

He likes watching the sugar glider - but since gliders are nocturnal there's not much opportunity for interspecies bonding there.

65. This is funny, because I thought of YOU when I posted her name.
:D

Jekyll and Heidi are littermates, given to me by someone that didn't want them anymore - and who later became a friend. I guess he originally named them Jekyll and Hyde .... except Hyde ended up being a girl. Spencer was given to me by the same person, who found him alone in a pet store and just couldn't leave him there. Spencer is the last name of the man I got them all from - and I knew he'd be very touched by getting the ferret named after him.

I turned out to be a girl, too.

And I _love_ that you named the other one Jekyll. We have kois named Trotsky, Bob Dylan, Shamu, Winky, Pflotch and Jumpy. :P

I have finally been approved as a proper kitty mom and will have two new kittens next week. Gawd, I had to fill out a 3-page application with personal references, my vet and promise I wouldn't allow the coyotes to eat them.

70. Aww, how pretty!
Such beautiful eyes.

Yeah, it can be easier to get a job than to adopt a pet from a shelter, can't it? ;)

But it's all for the good.

I love those guys, but I've always been afraid I wouldn't be able to properly take care of one. I've been told they're higher maintenance than a dog.

74. Thank you, mutley. She is worth every bit of care I give her.

You were told correctly. They are more sensitive to toxins and climate than other pets. I almost lost her a few years ago to a respiratory infection. I worry more about conditions for her than I do for myself. That's why she stayed home this summer but she will be with me in South Florida this winter. I just have to find the perfect place to rent. :)

92. I got Rogue from the local no kill shelter when he was only
just a tiny little thing. Someone had found him in the engine compartment of their Chevy pick up truck after having driven with him there for a few miles. Luckily he was unscathed. The people at the shelter named him Chevy, I thought he looked and acted more like a 'rogue' to me. Hence the name.
He's a huge cat, all fur, all PURR and very loving.

108. Old Pete
Petey passed over the Rainbow Bridge on 07/07/06

This is him in his favorite sleeping spot, taken a couple weeks before he died.

I don't know if I believe in fate or whatever, but the next day, while a co-worker was coming to work, he saw a little, white kitten trying to cross 23rd St in OKC near downtown. It would have been a suicide mission. He decided to stop and pick the little guy up, not really knowing what to do with him, but knowing he couldn't just let him die in traffic like that. He knew about my Pete, and seeing how distraught I was at work that day, he thought he'd ask me if I wanted to take care of him. Just a little guy in need of a home.

I don't feel exactly right about taking on a new friend so soon after Petey left my life, but maybe it's what Petey wants. He was a stray at one point himself, and his having been out on the street so long before he found me was basically what killed him (feline leukemia that took two years to present itself).

So, here's little guy, whom I'm not going to ask about his name until I take him to the vet tomorrow to find out if he's healthy.

109. Good for you for giving that little guy a home...
I think Pete would approve.

We had to put our Border Collie, Cody, down last summer. It tore me up even though I knew it was the right thing to do.

Two weeks later we adopted Buddy from our local shelter. He needed a home and we needed him.

Keep us posted.
