Alarcojon update - I'm being admitted tomorrow

For those of you who have asked for updates on my condition, a number of things have been going on, but the big news is that I am being admitted to the hospital tomorrow for my bone marrow transplant. I should be in for six weeks inpatient, then a couple of months outpatient.

I've already met one real live DU'er in person here in the Twin Cities, and I'd love to meet more of you. If you'd like to stop on by, drop me a PM.

I'll have Internet access in my room, so I hope to continue to post on DU as much as possible. My health and spirits have all been quite good under the circumstances.

1. ohh dear is this a good thing or a not so good thing. i thought your

last status was remission. what did i miss?

3. I've needed a transplant all along

and they have some weird sort of definition of remission which I always seem to fall just short of (I was in remission just after my second chemo, but didn't stay that way). Still, today the doctor said they were pleased with the condition I was in going into the program, so we'll work with that.

ever you do don't watch the soaps trust me you'll be hooked in three days but hey they might make the time go bye faster. my sincere hope for a speedy recovery.

You will be in very strict almost quarantine for a while. Take books, etc with you.

The hospital probably will discourage non-family visitors for the first couple weeks to prevent possible infection and those that do visit will wear masks, gloves, etc.

I talked with some other MN DUers yesterday and we are planning to stop by when alarcojon feels up to it, and the hospital gives the green light.
