1. My favorite NY towns:
-Woodstock (and yes I know the concert was NOT held there) but it is cute classic town with a mostly laid-back vibe

- Lake Placid - natural air condition all year long, Olympic venues, nice chow\
- Saratoga Springs - gorgeous houses, a great main street, mineral water and classic horse track
- Ithaca - a cool place that seems not to know how cool it is plus the Moosewood is there
- Kingston - gotta love the old section and the river front area
- Bolton's Landing - all the beauty of Lake George without the t-shirt shops of the namesake town plus The Sagamore

3. I love Ithaca.
I'll be there for the 4th of July weekend.

I've been to Moosewood many times now. Sometimes the food is amazing. Often it's only good. I think they're a bit overrated these past few years.

But out in the woods there are the gorges, the little waterfalls, the secluded skinny dipping spots...! I love Ithaca!

2. New Yorker
Grew up just north of Syracuse, New York. Woods, Swamp, Corn Fields, Apple Orchards.

Went to College and lived for a while in Buffalo, New York. Met a whole lot of great people, but also found out that it's an incredibly racist place, horrible economy, and I hate the weather.

Came to New York City and I've been here ever since. The food is amazing. The real estate is horribly expensive, and everything is do damned small on the inside. I've never met such rude people in my life, and so many people live in absolute filth. But the food is amazing. And I love good public transit.

4. I once ran
from Radio City Music Hall, up through Rockefeller Center...and back. In strappy high heels. It's amazing I didn't break an ankle on the damn subway grates.

And then I horrified two fabulous members of the NYPD by standing in the subway barefoot. B-)

I love New York!

7. Born in the Hudson Valley
The Catskill Mountains have some of the best hiking in the Northeast. Slide Mt. is the highest at 4,180 ft. Most of the trails can be hiked in a day.

The picture is Katerskill Falls.

8. These are great!
And the pictures are beautiful. I guess I never thought of New York as being rural and so green! :)

We're studying one state a week at my house, and these are giving us some great things to check out.
