Broad Band Appreciation THREAD!!!

I had broadband internet hooked up last week, and I have to say this...

"Broadband RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Down with DIAL UP!!!!"

I don't know how I survived on dial up for such a long time...but, I'm off topic...this is a broadband appreciation thread. I appreciate broadband so much, that I can finally download a 10mb file, without it taking an hour and a half to do so!...thank you broadband! And dial up, rot in hell....;)

1. Broadband RULES!!!!! I LOVE the Innernetz!!!

How awesome that we live in a time when we can drag out of bed, walk ten feet to the computer, collapse into a chair, and type messages in real time to people all over the world, all while wearing pajamas and drinking coffee (or your beverage of choice)!!! :D

Six months ago, we moved from Backwater Podunkville (otherwise known as "Run DSL/cable lines? Are you nuts?"--and insert phone company's and/or cable company's maniacal laughter here--to (gasp) civilization with an endless supply of town water (never need fear the well level again), food and coffee (!) within walking distance, and BROADBAND. This is HEAVEN. Well, okay, it's a dinky town in Western N.Y., but hell, I can load pictures now! I can FTP! That's what I call heaven after three years in the woods.

'Course, being in the woods had its advantages too--I do miss the wildlife very much. Now the only wildlife we can see are the yicky neighbor's kids playing nextdoor--or, more likely, running through our yard :mad:... But I digress...:hi:

3. I know the feeling

our phone company just started carrying broadband, and a friend of mine wanted me to reserach and get broadband for our home, so he could hook up a router...and lo and behold, our phone company has it thank god. We had to go through a rinky dink place, cause I am out in the country, and the power/phone companies have little strangeholds on our area...but I do love broadband, i can actually surf the internet, shit at times, coming to DU was a pain, because uploading some pages would take forever, and on myspace, there would be some of my friends profiles, i would never check, because of how loaded down their pages would be....:)

5. We didn't have enough people on our road

There were six households (upped to nine by the time we left) on our road, and we all begged and pleaded for broadband--we promised the cable company and the phone company that we'd all get it if they ran the lines, etc., and even though there was broadband on the north/south roads perpendicular to ours, on either end of our road--nope--wasn't worth their while to run the lines east/west to bring us into the 20th century. Humph.
