Rock, Paper, Scissors or Paper, Rock, Scissors?
I grew up saying Paper, Rock, Scissors. In my opinion, it flows better. However, it seems that everyone else says Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Opinions?

4. JANKENPON!
Edited on Sun Jun-18-06 11:21 PM by scoey1953

So, how many names and variations of Rock, Paper Scissors is there?
Just out of curiosity,
I found all of these:

Japanese= jankenpon or Jankenpyon

Korea=Kai bai bo

Thailand= Janjii

In China janken is the same as in Korea, except that sometimes guu is 'hammer' and paa is 'bomb'.

In India and Indonesia, and on Bali, janken is played with elephant, human and ant, where elephant beats human and human beats ant.

Cantonese people of China play gosukumi. The symbols are god, chicken, gun, fox, and termite. God is the thumb, chicken the index finger, gun the middle finger, fox the ring finger, and termite the little finger.

The Malaysian 'Wan Shi Zan' janken is connected with this gosukumi. In this janken, pistol defeats everything except water, and bird loses to everything except water. Stone defeats bird and plank, and loses to pistol and water. Plank defeats bird and water, loses to stone and pistol. Water defeats stone and pistol. Bird loses to plank.

The game becomes differnt in other places as well...insted of Rock, Paper Sissors it looks like this:

Myanmar- General, Soldier Tiger

Malaysia- Rock, Bud Water

Vietnam- Hammer, Paper Sissors

Laos- Hammer, nail Cloth

Russia-Rock Scissors Paper Well

France-Rock Scissors Leaf Well

Other variations of the game:

Rock Scissors Paper Dynamite
Rock Scissors Paper Fire Water

You can find out more about this game here:

Talk about evolution of the game...here a newer version of the game
15 levels:

By the way, some people have added an additonal bit
of fun to this game.

Each person is given a rolled up newspaper, or paper fan or plastic hammer and a helmet.

If you win, at Jankenpon you are supposed to hit the loser with the newspaper or other item, on the head. He or She must put the helmet on before this happens. If the you hit them on the head before the helmet is on...you win. If you don't then you play the game of Jankenpon again...You might think this is easy, but its such a fast game you have to think fast and re-act faster...

6. IMO: You say it wrong. That doesn't flow better; it doesn't FLOW at all.
But the whole question is MOOT, ever since I discovered
"rock-paper-scissors-Spock-lizard".

I saw the phrase "Paper disproves Spock", and never looked back.

7. Fisties
"How about 'one potato, two potato,' sir?"

"Don't be childish, Jenkins. No, I think... I think fisties would be best. OK, so hands behind backs. After three... OK, one, two, three. Now, what's this — stone, stone, stone (looks down at his hand) and scissors. Now. Scissors cut everything, don't they?"

"Not stone, sir."

"They're very good scissors."

12. It has to be "Rock, Paper, Scissors."
Because Rock is beaten by Paper, and Paper is beaten by Scissors.

In that order, from least to greatest.

No ifs, ands, or buts.
