The Gospel According to a Led Zeppelin fan...
...from an Amazon review about a Hendrix compilation.

Sorry, my fellow Zep fans, but this is just too sad....and funny:

Well what can anyone say about Led Zeppelin? its the toughest thing anyone can possibly be made to answer. Maybe it's wise to start with the other great human endeavours, the Ancient Greeks, the Pyramids, The European Rennaisance, Beethoven, Einstein. Put these in a melting pot and the end result would stll be vastly inferior to teh worst song by Led Zepplin. In fact it's wrong to think of Zeppelin as having a worst song. How dare I. HOW DARE I. Every single song Zeplin wrote is the utter peak of human GENIOS. The human mind is simply unable to comprehend the dizzying magnitude of Led Zeppelins genios. It cant be done. Its like trying to comprehend the vastness of the Cosmos. Every single man woman and child on the planet must do 60 years of penance for failing to be in the same league as Led Zeplin. Led Zeppelin is far far FAR and away the greatest thing to have EVER happened in history. We are but sinful WORMS in the Almighty prescence of Led Zeppelin. ANYONE WHO DOESN'T BOW DOWN BEFORE ZEPPELIN IS WORTHLESS.

1. For such a wonderful band, anybody can be just like their lead singer...
Go outside and find a door. Preferably a car door or one without the hydraulic hinges.

Open the door.

Place your hand between door and handle.

Now slam the door shut.

You'll be singin' like Robert Plant in no time!

3. As much as I like the band...
...I have to agree with you on Plant's vocals. Same thing goes for ACDC; love the guitar work - hate the tight-underwear vocal strain.

4. Saw Led Zeppelin many years ago....
I was young, the crowd was wild, there were huge piles of huge
speakers, more than any other concert, and we were right up by
the stage.... but it was NOT the greatest concert ever. No, I
wasn't stoned. Sorry, but sorrier I never saw Hendrix.

5. I saw Led Zep on their first US tour
They were ....

o.k.

Grand Funk Railroad opened, and had a better performance.

Sorry.

6. Same here
I was REALLY excited to see them because of their debut album, but the concert was a discoherent shambles. Can't even remember who opened for them, but I do remember Jimmy Page wearing a brown velvet outfit, which was so completely cool (by being uncool) at the time.

I saw them all, fortunately, with the exception of the Beatles. Hendrix, Cream, Stones (many, many times), Grateful Dead, Dylan (pre 'Saved' - won't touch him since) Airplane (not Starship), Country Joe, Who, The Band, Joplin, Zappa, Alice Cooper (DREADFUL - was before their first album and was still struggling with what to do with themselves) oh, the list goes on forever. Also, I went to Altamont - and enjoyed myself. Go figure. Toss in Clash, Buzzcocks, Blondie, Police and shitloads of others. I stayed active up through seeing G&R at the Whiskey before they were famous, and catching the first Pearl Jam and Nirvana tours. Quit going to concerts in the 90's because it was usually not worth the trouble after moving to the country. Make it out only occasionally now, and it's only for something major - like Tom Waits, P.D.Q. Bach or Marianne Faithful.
