It's not that 5'7" is short...it isn't....

BUT....I'd lost some height, and had been unaware of it.

It is a body image change, and as such, is hard to accept.

19. Yeah, but
it was like a week or so before I started to grow out of it.

Seriously, it didn't start looking like I was gonna be tall until junior high and my first couple years in high school. I think I was 5' 8" in eighth grade (and played center on the basketball team) and I hit six feet the summer between my sophomore and junior years.

Funny thing was, by then I was a forward. 'Course, we had Danny Cunningham at center. He was 6' 10".

(College hoops fans might remember Cunningham as the guy who went to UNLV to play for Tarkanian and blew it by being involved in a bike-theft ring.)

As a woman being short should be no problem....
You can wear high heeled shoes and heeled boots without towering over a man and intimidating him.
As for reaching things.... just ask :)

I work with a chemist in the 5-2 category. she kicks around a wheeled step-stool in front of her so she can write mechanisms on the hood sash for me to read. its SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny, but a damn good chemist. I always want to pick her up, but that would be bad, very very bad.

41. It is a gruesome story
how I came to be tall. I was once a little boy, and then I grew some. I am 6'4".

Neither of my parents were particularly tall, and I don't think I was especially big when I was a child. So it was quite a surprise for everybody when I grew to be tall when I was an adolescent.

However I was not at all athletic, and gym classes in junior high and high school were miserable for me. Thus I hated it when anybody would ask me if I played basketball.

There is a club for tall people, with chapters in I think about 65 cities. Their web site is at

http://www.tall.org/

Height requirements are 6'2" for men, and 5'10" for women.

51. My family's also equally divided.
My maternal grandmother was only 5', while my paternal grandmother was 5'7", quite tall for her generation. I guess that I fall somewhere in between, LOL! But my female cousins, on my father's side, are all Amazons, compared to me, 5'8", or so... But I guess that I'd rather be of average height than 6' tall, like your cousin. Being exceptionally tall, especially for a girl, has its own disadvantages...:-)

Also, when I take off my trifocals the ground is no longer magnified, so I feel taller.
