Hallucinations, sleep deprivation, momentary blackouts and aching muscles did not stop Dave Wilson from becoming king of the pins Saturday night.
The 40-year-old became an unofficial world-record holder at 8:01 p.m. after bowling for more than 100 consecutive hours at Eastern Lanes in Middletown.
But even after he beat the record, Wilson kept bowling.
By the end, he had bowled 481 games over 102 hours, 1 minute and 25 seconds, raising more than $13,000 for charities.
The first thing he did after he set the ball down? Drink a Guinness Stout to celebrate his world record.
"It was unfinished business after having had the record for only five days last time," Wilson said.
The Mason resident was driven by two goals: to reclaim his title as the longest continuous bowler, and to raise money for charities.
"I'm a competitive guy and a bowling nut," he said. "Combine those two things with a charity, and it's a good recipe."
Wilson first broke the Guinness World Record last June after bowling for 64 hours, 22 minutes. He earned $7,100 for his effort, but a Canadian man topped that and bowled 100 consecutive hours just five days later.
