oh forgot to tell you. in order for you to be able to receive email, you first must unplug your computer for 15 minutes and hold the network cable above your head as high as you can. unfortunately, you cannot simply put it up on a shelf as your body heat is essential to the cable resetting itself.

just hold it there. if your arm gets tired, you can switch hands but at no time can your hand leave the cable so switch off carefully.

don't stop after 14 minutes though as it requires the FULL 15 minutes of being elevated.

22. Here's a slight consolation...

a few weeks ago, my mother told me her email had been "broken" for three weeks and she wanted to know if I could fix it. So I start up her iBook, click on the Mail icon in the dock, program opens and three weeks of email coming flooding in. I tell her it's working. She wants to know what I did to fix it, and when I tell her I just clicked on the icon she says...

"Oh, I thought as long as I saw the picture there, it meant my e-mail was turned on."

Naturally, to avoid such stupidity in the future, I made it so Mail opens automatically on startup and automatically downloads her email.
