An interesting observation re my treadmill routine:
For the record, I have a treadmill, and suspended from the wall right in front of it is one of those li'l 14" tv/vcr combos. I usually rent a movie to watch over a couple of days while running.

Now... I have noticed that whenever I watch a movie with Lee Marvin in it, I tend to run farther, faster, and with less effort.

Whenever I watch a movie with Gweneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston or Drew Barrymore** in it, I tend to cramp-up within the first ten minutes, jam a knitting needle into my brain through either my right or left ear, and tear my eyeballs out of my head with my bare hands.

I wonder why that is...

**I suspect that Donnie Darko might be the exception to the Drew Barrymore rule, but I don't have it on VHS so I've never tried it.

Upon further consideration, watching Donnie Darko while running on a treadmill would probably cause some sort of adverse effect, or I'd wake up one morning to discover a previously unknown treadmill in my bedroom, and have a slight, nagging, nearly subconscious sensation that maybe I'm actually vaguely familiar with the treadmill. Also, there would be Echo and the Bunnymen playing.
