Wrigley Field fucking rocks, and Cubs fans are by and far the best fans a team could ever ask for. The park was sold out, and regulars told me this is usual even during bad seasons.

Even when the Giants were #1 they never really packed SBC Park (as it was called at the time.)

1. So you had fun at the Friendly Confines?
I watched that game on tee vee and thought of you...sitting up there, prolly freezing your ass off -- and having the time of your life!

And I'd have to agree...Cubs fans are one of a kind.

Heh...we've gotta be.

3. All trains stop at Wrigley on game day.
That was one of the first things I remember learning about Chicago.

4. The closest I may ever get to heaven is
sitting in my seats at Wrigley on a warm, sunny afternoon watching batting practice before the game, before the seats fill up, before the first pitch is thrown and before all hope is lost.

6. hahahahaha
And that pretty much sums up the Cubs fan...

You see Red Sox fans had the cruel taunt of near victory so many times. The Cubs only had this once...

5. Next to my Twins, the Cubs are my favorite team.
I like underdogs .
And I sooooo want to go to a game at Wrigley.

7. Besides Wrigley being baseball's Mecca*
I've observed, via teevee and just paying attention to the chatter (not, alas, through personal experience), that the fans there are probably the best in the game. They know the game, they love their ball club almost to the point of obsession, they act less like jackals than any other fans I've seen, they don't need no steenking message board to tell them when or what to holler, and, most of all, they've endured so much — Dog love 'em.

They've got class.

And, yes, I include Steve Bartman in this account. He made a fatal error, but he's still quite the exception. At other ball yards, you'd expect crap like what he did. At Wrigley, it was a shocker.

The worst fans? I can't say.

*Gotta give Mecca props to Fenway, too.

10. The San Diego Padres thank the Cubs for allowing them to sweep..
two series, 7 games here and there, catapulting them to 1st place in the NL West.
Thank you Cubbies!

Heh...most of 'em were good games, though. That makes it a teeeeeeeeeny bit less painful.

Yesterday's game sucked, though. Two runs on two wild pitches, back to back -- and then walking in a third.

GACK!

And Saturday's game was a heartbreaker.
