Does anyone else care not at all about The Sopranos?
Christ, it's everywhere in my workplace. Each week, everyone chatters about it, and every radio station I hear in the office is likewise overflowing with praise for the holiest of holy shows in the history of television.

To me, James Gandolfini will always be the guy who got his ass kicked by Patricia Arquette.

1. Never watched an episode.
Not really likely to either.

I've got nothing against it - I just don't pay much attention at all to television.

Whe somebody says soprano this is more what my mind conjures up:

36. If You've Watched It From The Start
You'll really like it. Maybe rent the original season 1 DVDs so you'll know what's going on and get to know the characters. If you don't know who these people are and everything that's happened over the years you won't like it. Kind of like some current shows on right now like 24 or Lost. I've tried those shows after they've been on for awhile. Can't get into them.

2. I've seen the show a few times
It looked entertaining, but it's one of those deals I can take or leave.

I don't watch much tv now and I don't have HBO. That's fine by me.

3. I got frustrated with it and quit watching.
I discovered that after watching it I would be in a bad mood for several hours. Who needs that?!?!?

I just can't enjoy a show where there is no-one to root for. They're all scum.

4. I love it
Sorry. Can't explain why. I don't even have HBO. I have to wait for the DVDs and get them through Netflix. My wife likes em too.

BTW: why have HBO and Netflix? If it's really good, they'll put it on a DVD. Be patient, and frugal.

16. Why we have HBO and Blockbuster
So we can watch Bill Maher's show. There might be other reasons but I still think it's worth it just for that

Honestly, how many damn things can you see about the Mob, anyway?

After you've seen "Goodfellas", you've seen all you need to know.

5. I've never seen it. However, if HBO can create Six Feet Under then
it's entirely possible the Sopranos are every bit as good as everyone is saying. Six Feet Under is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. I will refain from judgment until I see an episode or two.

6. Never watched it, never will.
I don't like any of the series on HBO or Showtime. I have those channels for movies not series and I resent the time that is taken up with series. It means fewer movies of lesser quality.

Since not very many people in Oklahoma get HBO (they call it Hell's Box Office), I don't have anyone to talk about it with at work.

21. I've never watched,
but that's probably because in the UK it's on late at night and I'm too lazy (or uninterested) to record it for later viewing. I know that if I did record it, it would end up being unwatched like 99% of the other stuff I bother to record.

It's hard for me to care about a show where most of the characters are violent criminals.

Not having HBO, I can't really get into it and the two episodes I've watched didn't really do it for me.

Overall, I don't know what it is about everyone's love and general fascination for everything BAD and CRIMINAL. Trust me, if any of these people ever read about what a real mafia is like, it's hardly the cool/indie/hip glamorization HBO gives it. There isn't anything funny or fascinating about loved ones getting shot in cold blood for really, no reason at all.

To the point above - the whole "mafia" thing has been done to death, like the horse's head in Jack Woltz's bed.

37. They've Deat With Some Unglamorous Plotlines
In the show one of the characters had to have his wife killed for talking with the FBI. The main character has had to kill several of his relatives and best friends over it. I don't think it makes it look like a very good life. I mean the main character, Tony, is going through therapy so it doesn't appear to be helping his psyche.

33. Aw, and after I wrote that nice stuff to you in the R/T group!
Maybe it's just because I'm saturated by it--the weekly breathless recountings of last night's episode just overwhelm any desire that I might have to see it.

39. Here's the thing
I was born and raised in NJ and it's like old home week for me to watch Tony and the gang. While I am not of Italian descent, many of my friends were. One weekend one of my friends had a home invasion and her parents were shot in their beds. Turns out the thugs had the wrong house. The wiseguys lived next door!

But one reason I like Tony is he forces me to think pluralistically. He's a murderer and a thug and an animal, BUT he lives according to his principles. And he loves his family. So when he finally "gets his" I'm going to be kind of sad.

27. Count me among those Italian-Americans who hate The Sopranos
If someone in Tony's position actually said that he was seeing a shrink, they'd kill him. After that didn't happen, I can't believe anything else the show says. Plus, you don't get to Tony's position without cutting out your remorse and conscience out of yourself first. I do not buy that this man's got cognitive dissonance going on, and that plus the fact that I am effing fed up with Italian-Americans always being linked to the mob in the US media, equals BL not liking this show.

38. I have never seen an episode, nor do I plan to do so.
I saw my first "Seinfeld" years after it was cancelled, and only then when I was literally stuck where people were watching it.

Seinfeld, at least the one I saw, wasn't that funny, and I appreciated the time saved by not watching it.

but surely not worth the $15 or so to subscribe per month ($12.95 plus horrendous taxes) to upgrade to that cable level
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Did you see the new Sopranos on TV?

Fans had to wait two years...two years for a new episode.

Apparently the show's now being produced by FEMA
