My cat Buddy died today, and I miss him
He was my friend, companion and family for 15 1/2 years. I adopted him when he was six months old. I still remember the first time I met him. Buddy survived for five years with diabetes. I kind of knew the end was near but it still hurts.

At least he isn't suffering anymore.

I love him, and I will miss him so much.

Here is a  for you

My Buff was with me from when she was about 2 years old, taking her in with a broken hip, until a sudden renal infection brought her life to an end at age 17.

I miss her still. One of the most loving animals I have ever had.

And anyone else who responds to my post.

I'm still in that shocked stage and I'm just coming into the "weepy" part. This all happened about 11am PDT, so I'm just starting to have the whole impact of Buddy's passing set in.

It's still hard to grasp.

17. I'm so sorry.
I've lost many cats myself, during the 40+ years I've
had them as companions.

They quickly become members of the family.

The pain will ease with time, but we
never forget them.

A big hug to you at this time.

He may come to visit you. Our Scotty died about a year ago and for several weeks afterward we felt him jump on our bed as he always did at bedtime. I read somewhere afterward that this isn't an unusual thing for cats to do.

Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

26. It's a heartache
It's painful, even excruciating, to lose such a sweet, beloved friend.

My cat Pazuzu lived to be 21 -- I had her since she was a tiny lost kitten. I'm never going to get over losing her.

My deep sympathies at this sad and difficult time.

28. I'm Sorry To Hear Your Sad News--This Will Not Always Hurt.
I have lost three very special cats and each of them is still very much a part of my life. I feel their presence sometimes through the cats I have now. Buddy may be gone--but your love for each other is not. That is with you forever.

34. I'm so sorry. Poor angel. Was true blue and good as only an
animal could be for his whole life. I feel for people who never get the chance to love and be loved by a cat or dog or other animal. They learn the meaning of devotion if they do. Hugs to you and your family. I put my little Tippy in the sig line so I can see him each time I post. It helps with me missing his genuinely lovely little soul.

39. Oh, pcfb - I'm very sad for you.
Tonight will be hard. Tomorrow morning will be harder. But Buddy shared his life with you, and it sounds like you gave him a wonderful one, full of love.

You each gave the other a great gift - your friendship and love - and although it hurts so much to say goodbye, that gift will last forever.

I lost my cat, Spock, in March. I've never lost a pet before. I will miss him always.

Thinking of you,

  I've lost two feline friends in my life, and both hurt so much. My Tigger was the same age as your Buddy was when he died. Tigger came into my life when he was about six weeks old. He died on 3.17.03. I still miss him a great deal. My Watson was only five when he died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Even though we have six other cats, I still miss him more than words can say. :( My kids still hurt from Watson's loss too. Our home just isn't the same without him.

Hang in there, and don't be afraid to grieve for your loss.
