What should my wife do and see on her trip to Chicago?
Good afternoon to all. My wife is meeting her mom for a few days in Chicago next weekend.

What should she not miss?

Lots to do, and so little time. She loves food, art and architecture.

Thanks!

1. Whenever I go to Chicago
I always schedule time for the Art Institute. Also Millennium Park is just a few blocks away. I've discovered a wonderful Russian restaurant in that area too. Don't remember the name of the street, but it runs perpendicular to the Art Institute and it's call Russian Tea Time. http://www.russianteatime.com/

Also try looking here http://www.chfestival.org/?gclid=CPWw846n5IQCFQOuIgodCTFAmQ

Chicago has a tremendous amount of things to do. Wishing you a great time!

2. Thanks!
It looks like there is also a really cool Warhol exhibit at the Museum called "Stars, Deaths, and Disasters".

Thanks for the suggestions!

3. Oh, yes I forgot
about the Warhol exhibit. My boss told me about that, he knows the director. I've seen Warhol's Onassis and Marilyn Monroe posters at the Walker in Minneapolis.

Are you going to shoot for your fifteen minutes of fame?

4. Mom? Is that you?
Seriously...Art Institue, Millennium Park, Russian Tea Room (it's on Adams, I believe, between the train station and the Art Institute). The three places my mom always visits when she comes here.

8. If the Cubs are in town you should go to Wrigley Field
It's among the oldest ballparks in the country...while the new ballparks try to look old, Wrigley looks old because it IS old.

9. Will they have a car?
A cruise up and down LSD is always nice. They could also try Oak Street Beach, not too many big cities have a beach downtown.

They can visit the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio in Oak Park and also get a map there of other Wright structures there. I don't know exactly how many but at least a dozen withing walking distance.

Chicago has some wonderful boat tours, the view of the skyline from the lake is breathtaking.

Welcome aboard Chicago's original, and most comprehensive sightseeing and architectural boat tours. From the Chicago River Architecture Tour , our signature Combined Lake and River Tour or Chicago At Sunset Wendella is perfect for families visiting Chicago or groups on an outing.

That is just one outfit I can think of off the top of my head, there are others and there also are some evening dinner cruises.

Of course if they are women, there is always shopping. Michigan Avenue is the place for that. I've always also been partial to a trip to either the Sears or Hancock observation decks. There a restaurant in the Hancock called the 95th because it's on the, er, 95th floor. I don't know about the food but the view is excellent.

The other recommendations in this thread are top notch as well. The art institute is a must, it has one of the finest impressionist collections in the world.
