Hello!!!!
I'm back from my trip to Berlin. I had a great long weekend with a lot of culture. Took ma lot of pics again.

Saturday evening we went to a dinner in total darkness. And when I say total darkness I mean total darkness. It was very interesting to eat and not to see what you eat. You had to focus on your taste a lot more. I enjoyed it. If you ever get a chance to experience something like that: DO IT!!!!

5. You CAREFULLY search for your glass
no hectic movements. It works. It was actually no problem to find the glass with the wine again. And the water.

It was harder to get the food on the fork or spoon than the fork or spoon to the mouth.

7. Berlin is big. Too big for me
We only went to the inner inner part around the Brandenburger Tor, Reichstag and museums island. And it was raining so it wasn't too good. But nice anyway.
But Potsdam with Sanssouci was really really nice.

58. You gotta be kidding
Pretty much every place in the city can be reached in well under 30 minutes. After a while in Berlin, the rest of Germany just looks dull and slow :P .

Good to have you back.

I don't think I will do the eat-in-the-dark thing - last time I bit a beetle. (I was in the great outdoors)

9. No beetles no fish
fortunately. But you could either choose from a menu or take the surprise menu. And even there you can tell them what you don't eat so you won't get any bad surprises.

I didn't take too many pics in Berlin as the weather was nasty but in Potsdam and some otjher places enough pics. I always take a lot in the hope some good ones come out :)

17. I enjoy eating food using my fingers.

Living with Frodo has changed the way I do a lot of things but I hate being stick with my clothes on (that's a little statement that I once innocently made while visiting the Carvel test kitchen after a gallon of simple syrup blew-up all over me ~ I never lived that one down).

20. The last time I wore a white sweater to supper was a big mistake.

It was wonderful homemade ravioli in a thin red sauce at my ex husband's boss's house. The taste was great but it looked horrible on my left boob sweater. Dark prints are better for things like that.

Oh yes, for certain food dark prints are A LOT better. But usually you wear white or light colors when there is red sauce. Has to be.

21. That must have been different
I have at my weekend job a client who is blind. A staff who was filling in asked, "how does she feed herself?". I had to repress the urge to roll my eyes at her as I explained that we put the bowl/plate in front of her, put the spoon in her hand and she feels for edge of the bowl/plate with her hands and eats from it. It's not rocket science.

26. It is actually pretty easy
it is easier with fork and knife than only spoon but it is managable. After all, blind people do it every day. The only problem was not to scoop the food over the plate and to find out if you ate everything.
It gives you an inview in what blind people have to experience every day and that when you see a blind person eat you won't judge the way they eat.

40. I couldn't identy everything I ate
I esp had probelms to identify the meat. Fruits and veggies were pretty easy (except the beans. I still don't believe it was green beans). You are focusing a lot more on your taste than on the sight. I found it very interesting. The whole food tasted good. They had a good food. They even served alligator, which none of us recognized. Because we never ate it before. I found it a bit sad that they served three different meats at once (pork, beef and said alligator). And we couldn't say which was which. So I don't know which of the three meats was the special one. Other than that all I can say: TRY IT!!!
