A continuing trend in GD
The last several days I have noticed a trend in GD (God only knows whether I am the first to spot it, so if this is nothing new, forgive me) where people go berserk with strawmen. If someone posts something about a common issue, for some reason people start arguing against what it is someone else said on the same subject. It's like they don't even bother to read posts anymore, they just go off whenever a topic comes up.

1. Brother, it's hard keeping it together.
Waiting and waiting. We are all kind of distracted right now I think.

12. Yeah--it's called "argue against something you know you can beat"
And if someone's whole post can't be crammed into your victory plan, then doubtless a sentence or other in isolation can be extracted to "score points" against. Argument then becomes an endless game of inventing dodges and unraveling the same so that no one can ever win but no one can ever lose either. The ground will just keep shifting. That's basically -all- that happened in the primaries when two hardcore candidate supporters who had heard all the arguments and counterarguments squared off.

14. Yeah, that's it. I resent having strawmen shoved up my ass though
It hurts pulling the straw out
