Few pleasures in life better...
Than a newly painted interior to a house. :-)

Next week: Carpet, flooring, a fridge, and a dishwasher. :bounce:

How is everyone this evening?

1. We're painting our house!
The third floor looks great, all pretty and shiny.

The crew is doing the first 2 floors tomorrow. And fixing all the little wear and tear things since we moved in.

The house will look beautiful for our last few weeks here.

2. The downside of moving
Getting your house looking good just before leaving. :-)

We need new doorknobs too. I feel like we're in a PBS home show project, lol.

5. just well tonight I'm afraid
I took my eye off the ball (the checking account) for a day, and spiraled into financial chaos when our rent check and my pay crossed in the mail. I didn't see it, and missing a hundred bucks in overdraft fees meant a bunch of other crap bounced today.

Many more overdraft charges later....

I have restored balance with a short term loan from the in-laws.

So, just well.

Grrrrrr.... I was running a clean year. Oh well.

7. To quote Thomas Jefferson
"Bankers are a sorry lot."

Sorry to hear that... very cool of your in-laws though. :-)

14. Gah...we had a similar issue today
What I thought was a one-time charge for something actually wasn't (was probably posting on DU and elsewhere while purchasing thus paying zero attn :P) and the account I got it on is one we're no longer really using. Didn't get an overdraft notice so didn't know until the statement arrived...was over -$100 at that point. :o

I called the bank and explained the situ...they were very VERY cool and waived a bunch of the charges (she specified "since you've never had this problem before and haven't requested a charge reversal..."...warning much? :D) so we only ended up having to pay around $30.

Sorry for your troubles, Big...at least your family came through for you. That's excellent. :)

16. I am going to call the bank tomorrow
and see if I can g et them waive some of the charges. I will plead that the check and my pay crossed on the same day and I didn't see it as I had an Internet Access failure (or something).

Then I'll cry and see if they have sympathy.

6. I need new carpet
But I can't afford it right now.

Other than that I'm not doing too bad. Work has got me kind of turned around. I have to go in at 1 AM. I've also got the jitters about a new job prospect which isn't letting me sleep too well. Other than that I'm still pulling in air and I'm still free. Those are good traits to have.

8. I like your attitude
Sometimes it's good to take stock of what we have, and not at what we don't have. :-)

It looks better in real life. It's my 1981 World Series pennant I got for xmas that year! It has followed me around for over 24 years now. :D

11. Sweet
I've had mine since... dog, sometime in the '70s? Yeah, I think I got it at a Giants-Dodgers game in 1973.

That reminds me of when they won the pennant in '74. I was at the mall with my girlfriend, who was from LA. She was at the other end of the mall and I was at Harry Wardwell's Magnavox, watching the NLCS with about five other people. After the last out, I ran down toward where she was shopping, met her and hollered "The Dodgers won the pennant!" Then I carried her piggyback down the mall. :D

15. LOL
You are correct. :P

This was beyond DIY. The previous owners had the most gawdawful wallpaper over the drywall, and it would not come off. Nini's son and some of his friends were not successful in removing it last year, so we had to get pros do it. Fact is, it was such a massive job done by such a big crew (and we have cathedral ceilings in all 3 bedrooms) that we got more than our money's worth. :D

23. Candied ginger tonight
Want some for your tummy? It's yummy. Gonna poach some pears and use the boiled down syrup from the ginger to dress them for tomorrow's supper.

I LOVE ginger!
