What type of Gift would you get for your Teacher/Chef

Everyone is giving the Chefs at College gifts. I am beyond broke but I would love to get my one Chef a Gift because I have had him as a Teacher since March for most of my classes.

I want to get him something but I don't know what.

6. One of my friends is ordering a case of wine on her moms credit card

She is Hawaiian and she is ordering a case of Hawaiian Wine that is made out of Macadamia Nuts. She told her Mom that she needed a book but her book is a case of wine.

I think that he is straight laced kind of guy. Wine sounds like a good Idea tho.

My favorite is the Blue Bayou. It is a sweet white wine, tastes GREAT, and comes in a beautiful cobalt blue bottle. And it's very reasonably priced--around 10 dollars. Don't know about shipping, though.

Give them a call and ask. I gave bottles to my colleagues at the university, and they ALL loved it. Have been asking for more! :-)

Go to the site and look at the wine list. It is truly delicious wine. I am not even a wine drinker and I bought a case for myself, it's so good.

I have a bottle of "Miss Scarlett" on ice right now...should be consummable in an hour. :-)

And by the way muscadine wine is a great anti-oxidant.

I gave my Teacher a cookbook one time and he had tears in his eyes and he walked out of class. It was kind of odd because I am on disability and he knows that I am broke and he kept asking me if I bought that book for him and I told him yes.

Please allow me to suggest a few books that a culiarny professional might enjoy:

1) One of MFK Fisher's books on food. They are extraordinarily well written and a joy to read for people who love and cherish food.

2) Julia Childs' biography (the exact title escapes me now and I've loaned it to a friend so I can't go look!). An interesting look at a culinary cultural icon.....

3) The book "Salt" by Mark Kurlansky. It's a historical account of how powerful salt was in shaping the economies of early civiliations and helped build empires in medieval Europe. You will never look at your table salt the same way after reading this really fascinating book.

Do you know how many times I picked up the book salt? About 7 or 8 times and I thought that it was a book that a person would put down If they had to pay for it because it looks good but you would prefer a cookbook and then I would pick it back up and think maybe they might have it already.

I am going to give him a copy of Salt. I have a little bit of room left on my Book Card.

I had NO IDEA there was so much history behind salt. I always knew it was a precious commodity at various times, but I never dreamed salt had such a fascinating history... I think about the book and what I learned from it every time I salt my food now...
