Currently listening to 80's music...having flashbacks ( sort-of )....
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 12:03 AM by TK421
remembering days when I came home from school, and my only worry was if my brother was on the Atari with his friends playing Combat, Pitfall, or Missile Command, and that I wasn't going to get to play for at least three hours; wondering what I wanted from the Jack and Jill truck when it came time for it to pull around my block...would it be a Mickey Mouse bar, a Bomb Pop, Sunflower seeds, Lemonheads? etc....
But if I ever mention this to someone, I get the sense that they think I should just let it go....you can't have it back, dude.

Well....FUCK THAT SHIT!!!!!!!! I WANT OUT OF THIS MISERABLE DECADE!!! ( SCREW THE 90's, too )!!! I want to go back to the time when the worst thing I had to look forward to was going to school ( and forget about the whole Reagan being president thing, because I didn't care back then!!!! ). When I watched movies like Red Dawn, Russkies, and Rambo, the only thing that mattered was entertainment...and during this time when relations between Russia and the United States were quite skittish...nowadays, Russia is STILL waiting in line for an hour just to get a loaf of bread! No threat to us, now...I'm not so sure that they truly were back then, either....and even my fucking FOOD tasted better back then!!! ( I swear to god it did, people )!!!!!!!

Nowadays, the rest of the world ( or most of it ) hates our guts, and for good reason! We have an idiot as president who doesn't deserve respect from anyone. We are dealing with, quite possibly the most corrupt administration in the history of the United States, and three years later, they are STILL getting away with bullshit!! WHY?!!!!!!! Has this country been dumbed-down THAT MUCH?!!!!!! Certainly ( with the exception of members on this board that post similar topics ) there are many others who feel the same way I do....

So whenever I hear anyone down the 80's, I feel the urge to tell them off ( and I usually DO silence the fuckers ) when I state simple facts.....I don't want to hear about the bad glam-rock hair bands, or the terrible fashion fads....that's mere child's play compared to what we have going on in this country today, and it makes me sick! Oh, if someone wants to flame away at this post; I was born with an asbestos skin and can dish it out as well as I'm willing to accept it...flame away ( but just don't attempt to glorify the 90's, that miserable fucking decade ).

A simpler time for me....when things weren't so much of a worry, and I just had fun...go ahead, fault me for that...if you dare.

Currently listening to " The Mirror Man " by The Human League

3. Was it because she was a freak back then ? I remember watching her on
MTV and wondering ( in a strangely pre-pubescent way ) what kind of things she knew about the male anatomy

4. LOL! Cyndie Lauper is one musician I often say was the only good one
of the otherwise shitfilled miserable ungodly awful continuous rain of swill that was the 80s.

Cyndie has artistry, a great voice, and a personal integrity that the vast majority of pop performers could never hope to have, and, quite likely, have no interest in having.

11. Wow...your lack of reverance for this decade has surely put you on my
shit list, Rabrrrrrr! ( and I'm pretty sure you've only been on my good list 'till now ) however, I'm assuming that by " ungodly awful continuous rain of swill " that you're referring to new-wave? Please tell me that's what you meant

12. new-wave, REM, hair bands, Guns N Roses, a lot of "alternative"...
it was all shit.

I think the 80s is clearly the emptiest decade ever in the history of music. Even the country music of the time was swill.

There was a little bit of redemption in the 90s; not a lot, but some. And now it's gone to total hell again.

19. Nice Don Johnson look there, Clapton. And of course, Miami Vice
was another of the 80s abominations.

Don Johnson, take your friendly, soft suit/shirt colors and your unshaven face and go fuck yourself. You are a personification of everything that was miserable and shitty in the 80s.

Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 12:21 AM by Ava
now all music is just mimicking music from other periods of time.

6. Pretty much like most 90's bands when EVERYONE sounded the same to me!
I swear, when I turned on the radio, I didn't know who's song it was...since they all had the same whiney lead vocals ( PITY ME...PITY ME!!! MY GIRLFRIEND DUMPED ME AND NOW I'M ON HEROINE ). Damn...but I can guess the artist from an 80's station playing on the radio ( fer-sure )!

they are a newer band, but have that cool 80's sound. I love them. Their new CD "You Could Have It So Much Better" is awesome!

21. In the 80's, it was all about the sound....I could hear a song on the
radio and remember where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard it...nowadays, if I hear a song on..the ra....radi...radioooo..zzzzzzzz, oh...sorry! Nowadays, when I hear a song on the radio, not only is it a song that's been played to DEATH, but its from an artist who I never heard of ( which, don't get me wrong, isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the artist I never heard of always seems to be extremely popular )....go figure!

18. I couldn't agree more..
I miss the 80s.. My childhood... the innocence of unawareness.. To just go back to simplicity, playing Nintendo all hours, Mr Belvadere (don't laugh I LIKED that show)McGyver.. my friendly Atlanta suburb neighborhood, Saturday Morning Cartoons.. back when people were friendly.. God how I took those years for granted, I thought they'd last forever..

27. googled.
but thanks for the offer.

I think it is this song that's in my head:

Chorus:
It's forever, this time I know and there's no doubt in my mind
Forever, until my life is through, girl I'll be lovin' you forever

I hear the echo of a promise I made
When you're strong you can stand on your own
But those words grow distant as I look at your face
No, I don't wanna go it alone

I never thought I'd lay my heart on the line
But everything about you is tellin' me this time ---

KISS was never one of my favorites - but I LOVE Monster ballads...

We have Sirius and I love listening to the 80's station and HairNation - it is always a throw back to happier times....

:)
