1. My dear swag.....
Kind of an interesting symbol!

Where'd you find it?

Seems just a tad large, though......

Oh, and it just now occurs to me.....does it have some hidden meaning?

Hmmm?

3. It's from these guys, Peggy. But they're no longer a band, so
the logo may be up for grabs:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einsturzende_Neubauten

Einstürzende Neubauten is an ever-changing experimental music band, originally from West Berlin, formed in 1980. The band is often classified as industrial or electronica, though neither really applies well in describing what it is that Einstürzende Neubauten does or sounds like. The concept of Experimental music is about the least credit the band can be given. One of the band's "trademarks" is the use of self-made instruments and noises, in addition to standard musical instruments. Neubauten has always experimented with sounds, originally in noise music and recently in silence (such as with the Silence Is Sexy album).

Einstürzende Neubauten belonged to Die Geniale Dilletanten, a musical movement that aimed to revolutionise music with the use of electric drills, metal cutters and circular saws as instruments.

They also played jackhammers, shopping carts with attached microphones, and thrown bricks.

Here's a smaller symbol that might work better:

This is one of the more well known members of the group, who was singer and guitarist in the band:

5. Funny story
Flying into Frankfurt airport late one night - walking through the industrialness of it all - passed this taped off area with lots of black, white and yellow checkered work signs and tools laying out on the ground - I started giggling to myself like some kind of loon because I could SO imagine it was a German performance space and that the "band" was just off having a cig or something...Of course no one noticed my insanity.

8. reminds me of Stomp, in a way.
have not heard Einstürzende Neubauten, maybe I should. I do like percussion - would I be pleased?

9. You probably wouldn't be pleased in a Stomp-like way, if you were pleased.
It's more chaotic than Stomp, more anarchic.

I do likes me some Stomp, though.

12. You might like the "Halber Mensch" album then.
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 12:17 AM by swag
Give it a try:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000057NO/sr=8-2/qid=1144386497/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-5148955-9419133?%5Fencoding=UTF8

There might be some samples on that page.

Also the film Halber Mensch is a great pleasure, and contains several stunning performances (with the jackhammers, etc.):

Wow, I'd better order that - only have it on VHS. - on edit, everybody says this DVD is a shitty 3rd generation bootleg, so I'll just be happy with my VHS copy.

4. I bet the mods are boiling over with enthusiasm about this thread.
Certainly a hat would be stylish for Sundays on the town.

I'm glad you agree that the mods need to graduate from those reservoir-tipped Trojan-enz.

14. If I could remember who suggested those looked like condoms,
I'd give them snaps.

Might have been jpgray. I don't know.

Are you staying in Richmond?
