Poll question: What do/did you call your parents?
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 11:28 PM by Oeditpus Rex
Note: I think it's seriously cute when women call their fathers "Daddy" into adulthood.

11. Mom and Dad
Well, I refer to my dad as "Dad". He passed away many years ago. Sometimes me and my siblings call Mom "Mama Bear". She likes that.

My daughter calls me Mommy (she's 26). That's what she called me when she was going up, and she just never changed it. When she introduces me, though, she says, "This is my mom."

22. My dad sometimes calls my mom "the Mama Bear."
Sweet, but when he does it in front of near-strangers--which is fairly often; my dad is NOT shy--my mother gets a little embarrassed.

to family-only ears when we address Mom in that way.

This 62 year old daughter still calls her father "Daddy"!

And her mother "Momma"!

OH well....some things NEVER change!

I'm just glad they're still around so I can call them anything!

They are in their middle to late 80's!

Sometimes "Mom" and "Dad" in more "sophisticated" company. I refer to them to others as "my mother" and "my father." I call them by their first names when trying to get their attention in a crowd/an area where lots of other people are screaming "MOMMY!!! DADDY!!!"

On Edit: My paternal grandparents are "Gramma" and "Grampa." My maternal grandfather is "Grampie." His late wife, my maternal grandmother, was "Grammie."

53. Nope.
Just someone to whom the maternal bond is ...shall we say....not quite so strong.

Mom threatened to drive up here and shoot me several years ago, so we get along much better when there is at least 200 miles separating us. For my own protection. She once told me she wished I'd strangled on my umbilical cord. Nice huh?

I think I have pretty good reason for my attitude.

40. Mama and Pops.
There's one guy I consider like a dad to me, and I call him Pops. When I was a little thang I called him Papa.
Now my Mama, first of course she was my Mommy. Then as I got older she was "mo-ohm" with a roll of the eyes. Now she's my Mama! And sometimes when I'm lonely or needy she is Mommy all over again. :D
