I have decided to end it all
I've struggled along for years now thinking things will get better, but they haven't. I was willing to deal with things only being a fraction as good as they used to be, thankful for what little enjoyment was left. I dealt with the repeated frustrations, disappointments and unrelenting hassles for longer than I should have, but now I'm done. I'm worn out. I quit. Disc 1 and Disc 3 of my old Sony 5-disc CD player quit working reliably long ago. Now Disc 4 is not working and just this morning, Disc 5 started acting funky. Don't try to stop me. Don't try to talk me out of it. I'm scrapping the whole shebang. Goodby cruel CD player.

1. You gotta do what you gotta do, man
I'm sorry that you've been so disappointed, and hopefully the end will come as a blessing.

6. I still have it and only use it for listening to AAR in the evening and
for a home theatre sound system. I tried playing a CD on it a few weeks ago and my hubby was like, "Umm, that thing hasn't worked in like 4 years."

10. I feel your pain
Recently I had to trash my 300 disc Sony DVD/CD changer. I put a rental movie in and the thing just died...nothing I could do. Sony wasn't supporting it...

I sucked it up and just took it apart piece by piece to take the rental disc out and then curbed the bitch.

24. It was a dumb investment
I worked at a bar that had a 200 disc CD changer, and then when I started really getting into DVD's I thought...how cool, I can put all my DVD's in there and then watch any movie without getting up from the sofa.

If only it worked that easily.

When it died I was torn, but i'm much happier with my new single discer.

11. Must run in the family.
Our Sony 5-disc CD player has been anything but reliable. I say put it out of its misery.

12. You forgot Poland!!
I mean, what about disc 2? That's all I have, with a single CD player, but that's not good enough for you? My "sound system" is a CD boombox. Which I never use, relying almost totally on my computer these days, which still only has about half my CD collection on it (I started to run out of hard drive space )

13. I mostly use iTunes
so I'm not without tunage.

but when I do use the still functional Disc 2 on the player, I just can't stand the awful, growing dread I feel. It is a weight.--an oppressive, churning pain behind my solar plexus that I just can't face any longer. I'm a strong person--noble even--but I'm just not strong or noble enough to listen, knowing that it's only a matter of time before Disc 2 craps out and leaves me with 5 discs of stuttering, garbage rendering shite.

27. "the game of life is hard to play
I'm going to lose it anyway
the losing hand I'll someday lay
and this is all I have to say
that suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I choose.."

M.A.S.H. theme song verse 3

"Bring out your dead."
"Excuse me, I'm not dead yet."
"But you will be, you've got the plague."
"I'm feeling much better really."

16. Did you buy that in 1993?
Because I have one from then, 5 disc and it sadly died as well. I use the equalizer and reciever as a plug in to run my television over the speakers.

17. it would have been about then
it is only the CD player though. No receiver or EQ.

It was great for about six or seven years, then started acting funky. I haven't used it for a couple of years until just recently. Maybe there's a dead mouse up in there.

I suppose I could just try cleaning it out good . . .

23. Well, that's about what you should expect out of electronics.
Too many moving parts nowadays for them to last so long.

Give it a worthy funeral - it's served you well.
