Me, the obsessive worrier

I got a long-drawn out voice mail from my landlord. She just found out that I stopped payment on the rent check. It's a shame the certified letter I sent hasn't reached her, but since she refuses to give me her "I winter in Florida" address, I had to mail it to her local address and wait for it to be forwarded.

I couldn't listen to it. I saved it and will turn it over to my attorney. My hands are shaking again. I don't know why I get worried and frightened rather than pissed, like I should be. I did everything right, followed the rules but I still feel as though I've done something wrong. What's the matter with my head??

Good thoughts for strength please?

For what it's worth, I don't think there's anything wrong with you or your head. I have some theories about why so many of us feel "criminal" in situations like this, but in essence, I believe our political leadership has done a helluva job of instilling fear in us little folks. But you've done nothing wrong; in fact, you're doing something very righteous by not allowing an unscrupulous landlord to walk all over you. :thumbsup:

I'd probably hang from the ceiling tiles for 3 days.

With moving next week (alone) and my daughter getting more and more demanding, trying to land a full-time job with benefits and other insanity in life, I really don't need this distraction.

Don't give the landlord another itsy-bitsy speck of your energy. Some people are emotional vampires who thrive on others' vulnerability, ya know. Keep your energy for yourself. :hug:

my husband and I wrote down everything we worried about as it came up. At the end of the year we looked at our lists---and not one thing that we worried about happened. What a waste of time worrying is. If we are responsible and diligent, we should be able to handle just about anything that comes along. When a problem arises we either solve it or learn to live with it. That's what life is. Constant change and taking the good with the bad.

Don't let it happen. Let your lawyer worry (but he/she won't because you are legally doing the right thing).

I do the same thing, and then when things work out, I wonder what the hell I got myself sick over.
