OK, The Web design people at my university are morons.
When they redesigned the Library's website, did they put direct links to major research databases?

Nooooooooo...

They, in their infiite wisdom lumped them all into something called "Quick Search" which is a major pain in the ass to navigate. Did I mention that it's also not Firefox friendly? Whenever I use Firefox, it won't recognize me as "part of the University community" (Never mind the fact I'm in my dorm room when I'm doing this search), however if I use IE, don't get that message.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! How the hell am I supposed to get any research done for my paper at this rate! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

This is not what I had in mind when I decided to stay in the dorms for Spring Break!

1. *ahem* morAns!

I hate that crap. I swear sometimes that websites and other things are designed with no input from the people who will actually use them. Case in point, seatbelts: they do not make the end one inserts the buckle into nearly long enough for winter coats.

I want them to pass something that would force the university to make ALL of their web resources Firefox-friendly by next fall.

It'll give IT something to do over the summer.

3. That'll work!
I take it they have not given up the IE habit.

4. Oh, no.
With exception of the Macs in the Fine Arts Building, Firefox is nonexistant on any of the Student-Acessable PCs on campus.

5. They may be violating ADA standards, too
If they're a publicly-funded university, they have to be compliant with federal, state and/or local government regulations regarding accessibility. If they don't make their content accessible to EVERYBODY, they could get sued.

If they're specifically targeting IE and ignoring other browsers, they may indeed have have accessibility issues-- and be open to lawsuits, too.

You may want to inform them of this.
