3. Plus green Mardi Gras beads
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 01:12 PM by Patiod
I have hundreds left over from a Katrina fund-raiser, so I wore I bunch to work.

Should have worn more, because I've had to give a bunch away!

8. It's St Patrick's day
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 01:44 PM by billyskank
which means that everybody who has an Irish person somewhere in their genealogy, which includes almost everybody in the western hemisphere, claims on this day to be Irish, and proceeds to get totally shit-faced on Guinness.

11. Folks may think I "earned" them at Mardi Gras
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 02:13 PM by Patiod
A supplier in New Orleans sent beads one year, and I was wearing them.

"Where did you get the beads, Pattie?"
"I was down on South Street, flashing for them, Rose." Now, I'm over 40 at this point, and assumed Rose got the joke.

Later, in the lunchroom, they were all talking about a riot that had occurred the previous night at Mardi Gras celebrations on South Strett.
"You should ask Pattie about it," says Rose. "She was THERE!!!"
"No Rose, no I definitely wasn't there -- I was kidding about flashing for beads. I'm a smidgeon too old to be flashing on South Street..."

13. D'oh!
I forgot that some people think you have to flash the goodies to get beads!

I was at Mardis Gras in 2001. A friend of mine joked that I must have had a REALLY good time there with all the beads I brought home. That was the first time I'd ever heard of that. Trust me, I'm over 40 too and the 'girls' didn't get flashed at anyone! LOL

force me to call you an idjit, then dump green beer on your head.

Where did this weird pinch thing start? Never heard of it until I moved outside of areas with big Irish-American communities.
