2. Jessica Snubs Boehner
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 10:22 AM by IanDB1
Forti said the Republican group had even arranged for Simpson to dine at one of the head tables with U.S. House of Representatives Majority Leader John Boehner, an Ohio Republican. The NRCC hopes the $2,500 (1,433 pounds) -per-plate dinner event will raise $7.5 million for Republican candidates in the congressional midterm elections in November.

3. Wait!
I thought that DU had alreadly declared her to be a permanently worthless bimbo with no brain and who shills constantly for the Republicans.

Have I misread all of those previous threads?

Regardless, any snub of Dubya is okay in my book!

12. Okay, I take it back
Apparently she is a fool after all:

Jessica Simpson loves President Bush. She's just not a big fan of Republican fundraisers.

I had hoped that she was more than a buxom blonde dumbass, but it appears that she embodies the stereotype more or less completely.

Though it's nice that she's working to help kids with facial disfigurements, she's still a dimwit.

If you see Ms. Simpson, please inform her that I will no longer waste effort in defending her idiocy.

seriously. damn.

Jessica Simpson snubs Bush

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Concerned about politicising her favourite charity, singer-actress Jessica Simpson on Wednesday turned down a invitation to meet with U.S. President George W. Bush, a snub that left Republicans dismayed.

The blond star of the film "The Dukes of Hazzard" still plans to visit Washington on Thursday to lobby members of Congress on behalf of Operation Smile, a non-profit venture offering free plastic surgery for disadvantaged children overseas with facial deformities.

People close to Simpson said she declined a request to appear that same evening at the gala fund-raiser of the National Republican Congressional Committee -- even after she was offered some private face time with Bush -- because Operation Smile is a non-partisan group.

"It just feels wrong," one Simpson insider told Reuters on Wednesday, adding that the actress keeps her political views private. "She would love to meet the president and talk about Operation Smile ... but she can't do it at a fund-raiser for the Republican Party."

5. I don't know that it's a snub of W
I don't think it IS appropriate for her to appear at a Republican fund-raising dinner, or a Democratic fund-raising dinner for that matter, given the group she's representing.

I was shocked at such logical thinking from ANY celebrity.

On one of the morning shows this morning, one of the Repukes was quoted as saying "if it's good enough for Bono (flash picture of Bono & W on the screen) it should be good enough for Jessica." Well, Bono might talk to W, but he ain't appearing at a Republican fund-raiser. And Simpson didn't say she didn't want to meet W, just that she didn't want to appear at a fund raiser? I don't get what's wrong with that. She probably wouldn't agree to appear at a Barbara Boxer fund raiser either. Good call either way.

6. yeah right on with the bono comment
FUcking spin I hate it.

"Well even Bono met with the President." Yeah at a specific thing for his charity or cause, not at a fundraiser. These people are just so in their own world. Their logic is so snarled that none of them can think straight anymore.

7. Awww, too bad...
Poor horny old shrub'll have to forego the pleasure of meeting, dining and hanging out with such a hottie--as will all those dirty/sleazy Repubican leaders. Pickles is probably relieved (if she even cares).

10. Headline News: Breaking: Jessica Simpson smarter than W.
Recent studies indicate that "singer" / "actress" Jessica Simpson may in fact be more intelligent than the President of the United States.

"This isn't really saying much, but I'm sure it counts for something." according to Proffesor Ballznocker of South Park University. "It's not really a matter of one being smarter between the two of them, rather which one is less dumb."

The study has come under fire from many Republican lawmakers as a reaction to the test results.

"It's only a theory!" exclaims Bill Frist. "I can tell just by looking at him that W. is way smarter... For Godsakes, it's only a theory, why put so much faith in it?"

"Actually it's not a theory yet." Counters Prof. Ballznocker. "Currently the study is only one level above a hypothosis, in that it's only been proven to be true a few times. The experiments need to be repeatable and consistant for a long time. It also has to be tested and confirmed by other scientific institutions. It's a long road ahead of us before this little educated guess can become a scientific theory."

That little "educated guess" might not get that far. The Republicans in Congress are cutting the studies funding, and threatening to cut the funding of any research facility that continues Proffesor Ballznocker's work.

"Their is still hope that a few privatley funded institutions here and several Universities in Europe will be willing to continue the research. There are plans to see how well Jessica Simpson handles a Segway..."

11. Yay!! Operation Smile rocks!
Simpson's snubbing of Bush* is great but her involvement with Operation Smile instantly gives me a much better opinion of her!
