Just watched "crash," wow, what an intense movie!
The only other "best picture" nominated movie i saw was Munich, so i can't accurately say if crash should've won, but it absolutely deserved to be nominated. It's one of those ensemble movies where all actors were tremendous. a very powerful movie dealing extremely heavily on racism, and a movie where even the most racist find redemption and where people find their worlds turned upside down in a heartbeat.

PS. anyone else catch Jin's, from Lost, cameo?

1. How about that scene with the little girl
running out to see Daddy coming home from work?

THAT was intense.

2. holy $hit
ya know, i predicted something like that would happen the moment he gave her the cloak, but when it happened, it still shocked me to the core.

7. That scene almost gave me a heart attack--it is the most moving
thing I have ever seen on film.

3. I just watched it too.
I thought this movie was intense. I did see Jin from Lost. Caught Tony Danza, which I thought was odd.

Very, very good movie. I think it was better than Brokeback Mountain and deserved the best picture award.

6. Jon stewart was right
it would've been easier to count who WASN'T in the movie.

4. I totally agree
and was very surprised to see a longish thread here on DU some time ago decrying the movie as boring and meaningless. I guess we can't agree on everything all the time!

8. Loved it...
Crash provided the honesty that is typically missing from movies. I appreciated that. It was difficult to watch, as is life at times.

9. I love this movie, and want to see it again.
It's like a grittier, more realistic look at racial tensions, etc., version of Grand Canyon. One thing I liked so much about it was how all races an have their sterotypes of other races, their biases, etc. I live in a very racially mixed neighborhood, and I do see this and hear this stuff. It was good to see a movie that showed things more realistically than most movies do.
