23. I absolutely agree.
Swiss and Italian Coca-Cola are dang good, too. But you can only get Coke in a glass bottle in little off-the-beaten-path restaurants here. When I find one of those restaurants, I always buy a _bunch_ of Coke in a glass bottle.

I was introduced to it by my sister who lives in Key West. Have you ever made it yourself? Does it have chicory in it?

34. I make it myself, yes..
In an espresso machine. I use Cuban coffee that I buy at the international market here in Atlanta...the brand is Cafe Bustelo...very dark-roast, espresso-grind. No chicory, as far as I know.

The trick is to fill the pot up to the steam line with sugar, and switch it off as soon as the sugar is completely moistened...then stir vigorously so that you have a thick, foamy paste. Then finish the pot (mine produces 4 demitasse cups of espresso) and stir again...it comes out sweet, thick, and syrupy, and the sugar foam makes a lovely light-brown crema on the surface.

37. OK, that's it. I'm buying an espresso machine next week.
Call Me Wesley and I received a beautiful stainless-steel Nespresso machine as a wedding gift, but it only takes these very expensive little Nespresso coffee thingies, so we haven't used it in a long while. I'd like the freedom to be able to use specialty coffee!

Thanks for the recipe, Spider Jerusalem!

About like this one (found an online seller in Switzerland, or at least using a .ch TLD, which should be a bit easier for you if you decide on something like this).

http://shop.mwf.ch/modules.php?name=Amazon&asin=B00004SPCW

Price on this model seems to range between about 60-75 euro.

41. I swear by Krups products.
My first coffee bean grinder was a Krups, and though it's in the custody of my ex-husband, I bet it's still working. Krups products are easy to find here, too.

I'll check to see whether I can get a stainless steel Krups espresso machine. (We're trying to gradually replacing all of our kitchen stuff with stainless.)

Thank you, Spider Jerusalem. :yourock:

got it at Ross Dress for Less for $29.00.

I love it.

Looking at the Cuban Coffe recipe, makes me think I could do Turkish coffee in it too.

I love making Cappucino on the weekends when I have time to enjoy it

42. seeing XNASA's posts on a regular basis
busy week in the heavens, new red spot on Jupiter, solar minimum (temporary cessation of sunspot activity,) another probe to Mars, and water discovered on one of Saturn's moon

NASA Science News for March 9, 2006

NASA's Cassini spacecraft has found evidence of liquid water reservoirs that erupt in Yellowstone-like geysers on Saturn's moon Enceladus.

FULL STORY at

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2006/09mar_enceladus.htm?list135591

Interesting mythologically as Enceladus was Gaia's child slain by the daughter of Zeus's (Jupiter's) brain.

Saturn represents the patriarchy and to find geysers on one of it's Moons slain by Pallas Athena suggests droves symbolically.

Oh and lots of other stuff inspires me as well. It's too infinite to mention. I might blow the bandwidth.
