1. Poor dial-up folks.
Come back in an hour.
The last one actually looks like an impressionist painting.

3. I tend to like non-themed stuff, for the house anyway. Monochromatic
stuff seems like it belongs at the mall or something.
Last year I did two trees, one in the LR that was all blue, silver, white and gold; it was pretty but rather 'cold.' I much prefer the multicolor look.
And yes, that last one is beyond tacky...

7. Monochromatic (Blue) Outside.
Multicolor inside.

Every Holiday Season, we turn our place into the House of Blue Light.

11. What I can't abide is the ransom note people
Edited on Wed Dec-03-03 03:25 PM by geniph
you know what I mean - the ones who can't resist any kind of light, so they have a mix of C9, C7, rope lights, and mini lights, in multicolor strands, single color strands, icicle lights, arch lights, net lights, blinking lights, solid lights, and lights that go PING in case the administrator comes. Their houses look like f***ing ransom notes. Sometimes they mix different size and color scheme lights on the same eave or the same tree. That looks horrible.

I like a string of C7s in red and green along a roofline or eave, and mini lights on a tree or bush, preferably in a coordinated color scheme. I want to issue taste violation tickets to the worst offenders in the name of Griswold.

And actually, that last picture isn't tacky - when you go to that level, it goes beyond tackiness into coolness. It's the in-between stages that are tacky.
