The father, played by Liam Neeson, intends to help the kid even if it means destroying evidence. The mother, played by Streep, believes he should face justice..
started watching it on cable and couldn't watch all of it....WHAT happens? Did he do it? Does he get off? are the parents and their relationship ruined?
please advise!

yeah, he does it, but it's involuntary manslaughter. He gets a year or so in the pen, and the movie ends with them all having moved away somewhere, but they're still together. Don't bet the farm on this ending though, 'cuz it's been a long time since I've seen it.
