"Lost" is *NEW* tonight
Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 01:23 PM by underpants
to be followed by two weeks of repeats. I checked out the synopsis of next week and the next week after that (that's an old one)on the DVR this morning. Oh well enjoy!

1. What the fuck is with ABC showing reruns every other week?
It's really pissing me off.

2. My wife and I actually talked about going the DVD route
not that we wouldn't watch them as they air (we have a 7 mo.old baby) we just need to see them with some sense of being in a series.

3. It all has to do with the timing of the various Sweeps
Sweeps, as you might be aware, are the months during which advertisers/networks determine the rates that will be paid to advertise during a particular show.

Sweeps occurs four times a year: in November, February, May and July.

This means that the networks will try to stagger and space their choice programs to fall during those months. So, through December and parts of January, we saw heavy Lost reruns. They do this so that they can show new episodes through most of February, the last couple weeks in April and the entire month of May. In May, the entire month will feature all-new episodes as well as the build-up to the season finale (which will be shown on the last Wednesday of May). It's all about the timing of the new episodes; you can thank the corporate republic we live in for that.

Lost's ratings will crest in May, and ABC can rake in the advertising dollars to pay for such a consistently entertaining show with abnormally high production values.

All in all, I don't mind. I have most of Season 2 (thus far) downloaded on my computer, so I can watch them directly in sequence if I like. And also, with some breaks here and there, it means I'm not chained to the TV *every* Wednesday night for 6 months. (And I got 13 days to anticipate what happened to Claire instead of the usual 6 days; I kind of like delayed gratification sometimes.)

4. Lost is the one show I watch regularly.
Never miss an episode. I've got every episode, to date, downloaded as well. I've basically given up on all other television. So it's pretty frustrating to not get my weekly fix.

Network television and advertisers, oh how I loathe thee.
