Need HELP with info on Hearing Aids
My daughter has had the same hearing aids for five years. She has outgrown them. There is a piece that is molded to her ears, and her ears are now too big.

Here is the kicker; insurance covers 0%, and the doc said it will cost over 3 grand. Now how in the hell Im gonna come up with 3 grand is beyond me. My ex and I make too much money to qualify for medicaid,(wooo, 35,000 between us) and why the insurance doesnt cover it is beyond me.

I have been doing a lil research online, wondering if there is some state sponsored help or some such thing to help defray this cost. I am coming up with NOTHING.

Im in Texas, and the first time she qualified for some sort of deal out of Austin, but that was a one time good thing. Aargh!!! I wish I could remember who it was, but can probably find out through her doctor so I wont send an application in again by mistake.

Does anyone want to help me see if there are state or national funds for this? Might anyone know off the top of their head where we can go? It is critical she have them around the time school starts, or her grades suffer tremendously, along with her self esteem.

Thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction.

1. I have digital hearing aids
that I had to pay $3800.00 for. No government/financial help. Everyone assumes that hearing aids are covered by insurance, HA. This is my third pair. My ear doctor pointed me to a program funded by the state of Ohio (now defunct) that paid 1/2 of my first pair back in '86. Keep calling around-there maybe someone who can help you. Good luck to your daughter. I've been there and I understand.

3. Yes! Its very frustrating
Even eyeglasses and dental work has at least SOME coverage!

I did find a website from Lion's Club so I'll contact them in the morning with my fingers crossed. I have this horrible feeling we will be told we make too much money as well. Apparently what they do is ask for used hearing aids, refurbish them, and then help with the cost of the piece that fits inside the ear.

2. About the hearing aids
You might call your local Lions Club or Rotary. I know that the Lions help with eye glasses but not sure about the hearing aids. If you belong to a church they might have some kind of program you could use.
