I really enjoyed the book,
the movie was good, but the necessary edits to the story line for time compression took out some really good aspects of the story.

but I guess no one ever really prefers the movie to the book do they.

Crichton and Orson Scott Card are at the top.

8. Aarrghh! Orson Scott Card?

Several years ago, I found myself marooned in the Back of Beyond (i.e. Eastern Europe before the fall of the Wall), in an unheated apartment with two sick kids, a bad case of the flu, no heating, and a carton of Orson Scott Card novels forwarded on by SOMEONE at the American Embassy.

This was simultaneously both the best and worst experience of my life. Mr. Card is a brilliant writer: *Ender's Game* is a work of genius.

*King's Meat* is one of the most horrifying and disgusting things I have ever read. I wanted to vomit. What made it worse is that Card probably realy IS a genius, who makes the fate of the hero of *King's Meat* sound not only logical, but inevitable.

9. The entire family , 4 of us, read Prey on vacation last Christmas.

It was good, not great, and relatively short. But, it does have good information that we need to know. I think education is what Michael C. does best.

And, Timeline, it was a good read. The girl child wants to see the movie because she likes the cute blondie who was in Fast and Furious.

I'll wait, he more pretty than cute.

2. I read and absolutely loved the book,

as I do with most of Michael Crichton's work, but I'm not so sure I really want to see the movie. There are some things they're gonna have to change, like you said, and it's not supposed to be that good.

6. I loved the book

And can't wait to see the movie. I don't expect it to be as good but I'm a movie lover anyway. As far as liking a movie more than a book, some will think I'm crazy but... I liked The Lord of The Rings better as a movie. First time that has ever happened but its true. I read the trilogy twice and loved them but the movies made it all real for me. I'm squirming in my pants to see RoTK!

7. I loved the book

The movie was enjoyable, and the things they changed didn't SIGNIFICANTLY alter the story. Although I missed the bit about the chapel of green death, the joust, and the fight at the mill. I guess they changed the idea from multiple universes to straight time travel to cut down on the "Wha?!" factor.

Also, I always thought Marek would be bigger.

I read "Prey", too. Good book. Might make a good movie.
