Any of you ever tried the service on Pandora.com?
Edited on Mon Feb-27-06 03:29 PM by WeRQ4U
It's really kind of interesting. It's powered by what they call the "Music Genome Product." You input a favorite band of yours, they play a track by that band and then find other music that they believe is similar. It's not always spot on, but it does a fairly decent job at proposing new tunes. Just a heads up for people bored with their old stuff and craving something new.

Update: The site is free if you register and if you don't mind ads every now and then. You can pay a fee if you don't want the ads. Also, their blog shows that this service will accompany the new "Squeezebox" stereo adapter coming out in the near future.

5. Evidently,
It's free if you register and don't mind ads on the site every now and then. If you want to pay a monthly fee, then you don't get the ads.

7. Tell me about it!
It's fascinating.

And in a nod to the corporate sponsors, you can buy all the tracks and albums from iTunes and Amamzon, respectively. I'm in awe. I LOVE finding new stuff like this.

8. Not just bands but songs, too.
If you fancy a particular song, it will bring up similiar sounding songs. For example, I put in Nick Lowe's "Cruel to be Kind" and was offered some like-sounding tunes. I'm using it to explore old jazz. There is a limit on how many times an hour you can skip over songs. And if you don't care for something, they'll never ever play it again.

I'll have to try that too. Thanks.

So far, I really like the service. And the ads haven't even been an issue.
