What songs make you lunge for the SKIP button?
A friend just gave me a new Live JJ Cale cd, and it has all his old classics, plus one of the most dreaded fm radio hits of all time, "Cocaine." But, funny thing is, this new arrangement is so sweet! It almost like a whole new song.

But it got me to thinking, since a large part of my 600+ cd collection is on my computer now...the original version of "Cocaine," had it somehow made it into rotation on my iTunes playlist, would have been one I skipped.

Stairway to Heaven is another.

Anything by Bob Seger, too.

What other "classics" have become so "classic" by now that they are merely annoying? Anyone?

1. Is that the same Cocaine as Clapton?
Now, I like that one. Stairway to Heaven too. (I have a friend who played Stairway to Heaven in church and the old folks just loved it - thought it must be a church song since it had heaven in the title.) I'm with you on Bob Seger too. Anything by Fleetwood Mac makes me nuts.

2. Pink Floyd
The Wall or Money or just about anything by them. I'm so sick of Clear Channel "Classic Rock" that I just make my own CD's full of classics. I find some really obscure ones that no-one has heard in years.

6. There are a LOT of disks in the store...
Look at all of them!

And they put the thirty out front they actually want you to buy.

My friends get very frustrated with my cd collection; at least 75% of it is obscure stuff no one has ever heard of. That's because about ten years ago I was making too much money and would stop by Strawberry's regularly and just grab four or five cd's I'd never heard of. Strictly by the look of the cover, or maybe a mention I'd read in a local alt newspaper or something. Many of them are now my favorite cd's, by bands that should be huge, but faded away because their manager couldn't crack Clear Channel.

3.  I'm w/ ya on the Bob Seger
as well as Tom Petty, and most songs by The Who (I know... but I just don't get these guys).

On the pop end of the spectrum it's Christina Aguilera, any boy band, and Jennifer Lopez.

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" is sure to have me hitting the skip button.

5. Any song from Born in the USA ...
Lyrically great, musically horrible.

The Who's Behind Blue Eyes, only becuase they've been overplaying it to counter the Lame Biscuit version.

7. I gotta kick Swede's ass!
For hijacking my music thread!

But I gotta admit, 100 replies in three minutes is pretty impressive!

8. Stairway to Heaven
sends me channel-surfing, anything from Zep really. Yes, Bob Seeger gets on my nerves too. Lynyrd Skynyrd is overplayed too ... at the expense of the Allman Brothers. x(
