1. Good taste that boy has. Of course, Johnny's versions are
almost always better than the originals.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water."

"Desperado."

"One."

"I Won't Back Down."

"I've Been Everywhere."

"Rusty Cage."

etc etc.

13. Silver
Originally released in 1979, celebrating Cash's 25th year in the music business, Silver, recently re-released by Sony Legacy, is a fine demonstration of Cash's ability to stay contemporary and cutting edge even while trends were dying and new ones cropping up. It is also proof to the rich history and legacy Cash has set forth, a bookmark in a career reached by very few.
Silver features a guest appearance by George Jones, and includes two bonus tracks ("I Still Miss Someone" and "I Got Stripes", both featuring George Jones). The album finds the elder outlaw countryman living up to his nickname, The Man in Black, as his hard luck, working man persona comes through in every word he sings and note he plays.

Track List
L and N don't stop here anymore
Lonesome to the bone
Bull rider
I'll say it's true - Cash, Johnny & George Jones
Ghost riders in the sky
Cocaine blues
Muddy Waters
West Canterbury subdivision blues
Lately I been leanin' toward the blues
I'm gonna sit on the porch and pick on my old guitar
I still miss someone (bonus track) - Cash, Johnny & George Jones
I got stripes (bonus track) - Cash, Johnny & George Jones

15. I LOVE "stripes," "Ghost riders" and "Porch."
I'll have to check that out.

My dream is to get an i-Pod someday and download every Johnny Cash album.

4. Considering context, instrumentation, and the generational gap, . . .
. . . I'd say they're both about equal on an entertainment level. However, big points to NIN for creating the thing. Everything else is a matter of style and expression.

We played both versions, he said Cash wins, easy.

5. He has to go see Walk The Line now.
It'll give you a far greater impression of Johnny's music than ever before.

Hope it wins something, it's downright blasphemous that it didnt get nominated for best picture!

8. An ex-girlfriends niece once praised Eric Clapton's unplugged "Leila"
She said this new singer is really good.

Another time, my aunt heard a Paul McCartney & Wings song and said, "This guy's really going places"
