I need a replacement van

The insurance company phoned and said my van is a writeoff and they'll give me CAN$ 4500, which is more than I expected.

In that price range I can afford something like a 2000 Windstar. I don't want to go any earlier than that because they blow head gaskets (been there, done that) and they have a bug in the transmission where 2nd gear blows out.

I've had good luck with Dodge's in the past but some of the early Caravans sucked.

I'd prefer to stay domestic so I can get parts at the boneyard.

Any suggestions?

1. The earlier body style is safer

The '98 is best because it's the older, slightly safer body style but with adjustable head rests, which prevent spinal cord injuries in accidents.

2. I was looking at one of those and love the seats

I'm just worried about the head gaskets and tranny. The deal offers a six-month warranty which can be expected. If it's affordable, might go with that.

3. If you can't swing a Sienna or Oddysey

That's definetly the best bet safety-wise. :)
