Things you can't resist touching.
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 07:43 AM by Strong Atheist
I was in the work room, and there was a roll of heavy duty staples... heavy, and grey. Had to heft it...

Also bubble wrap, and flowers on desks (to see if they are real)...

I can't keep my hands off them. Even other people's. When I go to people's houses and they have books, I can't resist going over, reading titles and touching the spines. And they smell good, too.

46. Oh, don't get me started
I can rhapsodize on the pleasures to be found in books for hours. The way they smell, the way they feel, the weight of one in your hand, the way they sound, the way they can pull you in and wrap you up in the world contained within the pages. My family's learned to recognize the gleam in my eye and tune me out.

Excited? You bet. And I love it.

Also, although there are many, many aesthetically pleasing fountain pens, I have to _hold_ a fountain pen to know whether it's the right one for me. (A good fountain pen must have just the right weight in the hand.)

as I don't care to appeal to the prurient interests of the "my ______ don't stink" crowd. :scared: is right.

I'll just say here: oil paints (you can tell a lot from the smell, re: pigment load vs. oil content), solvents (though you can't tell how toxic they are from simply smelling), essential oils, the top of The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger's head, Call Me Wesley's neck, my mom's hair when I hug her (Chanel No. 5 smells better on my mom than anyone I've ever met), 100 percent cotton bed sheets fresh from the clothesline . . .
