20. That would be awesome. But I'm not sure how many of us could...
...afford a cruise to Hawaii? Afterall, we are Dems, not the privileged class. Perhaps, just finding a cruise that is the most economical for the continental states, would be an option.

27. You can't beat the prices

right now on a Caribbean cruise. There are many to choose: 3-, 4-, and 7-day cruises from either Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, etc. Plus if you book in the "off" months, you'll save even more (plus there won't be as many kids :D )

Right now, I can book a cabin on RCCL Mariner, 7-day cruise, on October 1, 2006 for about $600/per person ($85/day). For those single DU'ers, you can possibly bunk 4 to a room and bring that total down to $533/per person ($76/day)

Even cheaper on Carnival. October 14, 2006 on the Glory would be $555/per person ($79/day) for a 7-day cruise. If you put 4 to a cabin, then each person would only have to pay $465 ($66/day).

That rate includes all cruise travel, taxes, port charges, etertainment, and food. Out-of-pocket expenses would include alcohol, soft drinks, premium coffee, souvies, and casino.

These rates also don't include any group discounts which we would get.

Also, a group cruise can be booked 12 to 18 months out, so that would provide people the opportunity to make payments if need be. All you need to book a cabin is $250/per person deposit, balance due 70-75 days before sailing.

A cruise for me, right now, may be a little iffy. I could totally do San Francisco right now. Another city would probably work out too.

Some of them slept 4 to a cabin, some slept 2. They went on a 7-day cruise on Carnival for about $700/per person. In the summer, you can expect fares from $800-$1200. In the off season (late August, Sept., Oct., early Nov., February, and May) you can pay considerably less ($500-$800/per person).

41. Here's the thing, a DU cruise has been proposed
a few times before and always sort of died on the vine for lack of someone to drive the train. If you're up for driving the train, I think it could happen.

Couple of thoughts:
- cheaper is better, obviously.
- you might want to do a first round of "brainstorming" and get the dates, itinerary, etc. tentatively set and THEN you'll really start to be able to get the numbers fixed and find out who's in and out.

Expect a lot of drop off -- we are doing a NYC meetup of the KOEB group in a couple of weeks and we started off with about 10 and I think we're down to about 6 now.
