Ok Steeler fans, I've got a question for you
Now stop combing your mullet's and give me your undivided attention please.

What in the hell does "One for the thumb" mean?

1. pssst... no apostrophe in "mullets"...
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 08:52 PM by Rabrrrrrr
(I only offer that because it makes your insult rather, um, ironic)

23. Actually, you're referring to mullets in the plural, not possessive
Edited on Mon Jan-30-06 10:53 AM by friesianrider
The mullets don't possess anything, which is what the apostrophe S refers to. For instance, "have you seen friesianrider's mullet!?"

Just a friendly grammar reminder. :)

So already have four rings.

3. explanation
The Steelers won four Superbowls, and possess 4 Superbowl rings. The fifth ring, long elusive, is the one for the thumb.

12. We're from the town with the great footbal team....
We cheer the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Chuck Noll and all his friends are all on the field.
Go out and get them Steelers.

Bradshaw, and Rocky, and Franco and Lynn,
We love you Pittsburgh Steelers.
It's been many years in coming,
just keep that Steelers machinery humming

Defense, Defense, make them scramble, intercept that ball.
Defense, Defense, keeps the Steelers always best of all!
Mean Joe, Mean Joe, do your thing against the other team,
You start from year to year, we're so glad you play here,
Now join with me, and sing the Steelers cheer-er-ER!

We're from the town with that great football team,
We cheer the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Winning's a habit, not only a dream,
Go out and get them Steelers!

Gerela's Gorrilas are here for the show,
and so is Franco's Army,
It's been many years in coming,
just keep that Steelers machinery humming.

Offense, Offense, take that football whole way up the field!
Offense, Offense, let's score and score and never ever yield!
Franco, Franco, can you believe we have a running game?

The Steelers are so great, and so hard to overrate,
Good things, will come, to those who work and wait.
Da-Da-Da-Da-Ta-Da - Charge!

This is the old one...the one I remember as a kid...

They had a couple who named their infant son "Seven." Also a parrot who can sing the 1970s Fight song....

A friend told me a funny story. He was in a Steeler bar in Boston, and saw a man sobbing his heart out at the bar. My friend was concerned by the guy's emotion, and asked him if he was okay. The guy answered, "I'm just so happy about the Steelers." I thought that was cute.

20. The one they used to play on Nike Commercials
Sounded like the guy was saying "Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, LA-NA-NA-NA. Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, LA-NA-NA-NA."

11. Be careful what you wish for
I know the lyrics and have been singing it all day -- and I'm not the only one. The whole town has gone wacko.

22. But..but...that would be stupid. Different Steelers have different rings..
So these guys would only be getting one for the ring finger. They don't possess the other four...

I'm just being a killjoy here because my team sucked eggs this year. Blah.

24. Can't argue with that
But we're talking about a game where very big grown men smack into each other for a ball. Should we really expect logic? ;)

8. Hey man wassup with Palmer? Did he have his surgery? What news?
I'm not particularly a Bengals fan, but I'm always a fan of the long suffering underdog who has finally become good (I went through this with the Redskins as a kid, sympathized with the Giants fans when they became good under Parcells, etc.).

It really made me sick inside how Cincy and Palmer was dealt by the injury, even more so when I heard it was pretty serious. I hope he makes it back OK.

13. I've been downloading them
The lyrics to the Polamalu song are pretty simple.

I've heard the 2006 Fight Song, and also the "We've Got Ben" song. I've even been listening to "Ben" by the Jackson Five -- not that I have Steeler Fever or anything 'n at.

16. It is officially Steeler Week at work and at my kid's school...
I have washed the jerseys...and the kids can wear them tomorrow...I have to pick them up another Steeler t-shirt so they can alternate until Friday....

My daughter wants me to draw those lines under her eyes like "Big Ben wears mom"...

This is how I remember it back in the '70's...

Did you see this article?

Motor City quickly turns to Steel City
BY MITCH ALBOM
Detroit Free Press

DETROIT - Not to rush things, but we've already picked our team.

In fact, less than five minutes after the Super Bowl foes were determined, Detroit had its mind made up.

We're going with Pittsburgh,

We like Pittsburgh.

It's a great article! :)
