Hello, people! My daughter and wife are napping, so I have second to post. And yes, this persona is a sock puppet. I prefer to call it a personality firewall.
Before I start my actual post, let me state that I'm really impressed at the affect everyone is having in putting the brakes on the Alito confirmation. Thanks to everyone for all the resouces regarding calling every SOB in the Senate. Now, on to my post:
I have a secret. Several, actually, but I'm dying to tell you this one, simply because I think DUers would find it funny and cool:
My job involves designing curricula for a major university. Quite a score, and a huge improvement over the horrible high school that fired me last year. One of the things that I do is to comb through courses and ensure that each meets the standards and objectives for the course. I also update the curricula to incorporate the current research-driven best practices of higher education institutions.
As a side benefit to my students, I am doing three things which I probably shouldn't: 1. If a course has any conservative bias or propoganda, I strip it out. All of it. The same goes for ethnocentrism and elitism. 2. I enhance or add content that reflects reality. For example, I have added resources in various advertising and media studies curricula that illuminates the purchace/manufacture of fake news. 3. For every resource that Leans right, I balance it with a resource that is progressive.
Unethical? Maybe. Fun? Definitely! Better than just sitting around complaining about conservatism? Damn right.
You are the only people who know.
So, what's your secret?
