What is wrong with this interaction?
Person 1 (explaining how cutting board and utensils need to be cleaned when cutting raw pork - notices Person 2's sneakers on the counter where food is prepared)

Person 1: You can't put your sneakers on the counter (Person 1 places sneakers on the floor)

Person 2: Sometimes I feel like I'm treated like a child

Person 1: That's where I prepare food, it's dirty to put your sneakers there.

Person 2: I always clean the counter

Person 1: (in disbelief, remembering Person 2's dirty dinner dish left on counter from night before) Yeah, right.

Person 2 no longer speaking to Person 1

Person 1's best response after seeing sneakers on counter is:
a.) don't say anything just place them on the floor
b.) leave them there and get out the Fantastic when Person 2 leaves
c.) don't be so anal, sneaker dirt is no big deal
d.) other

Seriously - is this conversation fight worthy?

1. Sneakers on the counter?
:wow:

Personally, I think Person 1 showed restraint. Is Person 2 a teenager?

6. An adult should know better.
And have apologized and moved the shoes.

After cleaning his/her own shoes with whatever Person 2 cleans the counter with, Person 1 could place these shoes on a plate that Person 2 is about to eat from... afterall, they've been cleaned, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

(edited to add the following: I wasn't suggesting Person 1 do this behind Person 2's back, rather for Person 2 to see... Maybe Person 2 would *get the picture*.)

From my experience,
If this is the type of thing that these people often argue about, at a certain point you just don't want to have the same arguement over again, and resorting to this kind of thing is the only way to get any satisfaction. cheap, stupid satisfaction... but it's better than the same ol' frustrating arguement... again.
I'm sure many would disagree with me though.
