Greatest. College. Football. Game. EVER!! HOOK 'EM!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna take the high road this morning, even though there's a few of ya'll haters (and you KNOW who you are) who should be eating a healthy breakfast of crow this morning for doubting the Horns.

Kids, that was one hell of a ball game.

1. Every once in a while, a game will have a tell tale sign of the outcome...
when USC didn't convert that 4th and 1, I knew they lost the game. I think the Trojans used up all the luck they had to keep this run going in the Notre Dame game. Their was nothing left to stop Texas. I don't follow college football too closely, but Young was amazing out there -- reminded me of a lot Michael Jordan (yes, I know he plays basketball).

2. That's a good comparison.
Jordan has been called the most competitive athlete who ever lived. Vince seems to be in that same mold.

20. I thought the tell tale was the "stolen" touchdown in the first half.
But, USC could not stop them (they couldn't stop USC either) and thats that.

UT did not "beat" them, neither team was stopping the other, if it was a two hour game the lead probably would have changed 10 more times.

5. You and me have been with them all season long, TG.
Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 10:25 AM by jandrok
I've never lost the faith in them. That was one incredible game, capping off one incredible season.

BUT, the HOOK 'EM! doesn't end here. March Madness is right around the corner, and the men's basketball team looks pretty good, despite the early blowout loss to Duke. Texas won the College World Series, now the National Championship in football......how cool would it be to sweep the major sports and claim the basketball championship as well??????????

10. Alright!
Can't go wrong with season tickets! They look better after beating Memphis. Barnes will have them peaking at the right time.

4. Congrats to the 'Horns!
I admit I was a hater. Texas deserved to win that game. They came up with the big plays when they had too.
Enjoy the championship! :toast:

9. I think you'll be seeing him on Sundays now.
I'd be surprised if he doesn't declare for the draft. The Texans have the first pick. Think they'll go with the local kid (Vince is from the Houston area) or go ahead and pick Reggie Bush, assuming that he declares as well?

11. Is Vince a NFL QB?
Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 10:31 AM by kick-ass-bob
I have not seen him much, but yesterday's game didn't really give me the impression that he would be a QB in the pros.
He seems to be too much of a runner, kind of like Vick, who after a few years, is not really doing the job very well.

But he was absolutely awesome last night!

Congrats!

15. can he throw deep?
I honestly don't have a clue.

If he relies on his athleticism to win games (like Vick), then he won't last too long. If he's smart, too, then look out.

14. I think the difference is
It seems Vince might have a better arm than Vick.

With that being said I do see what your saying. I still think Vick is a good player (Must be the VA TECH fan in me) but is highly over-rated by many at times . . .

If anything at least Michael doesn't take cheap shots (I don't think at least) on opposing players like Marcus did against Louisville.

18. Vince is just an incredible competitor and athlete.
He'll definitely make it in the pros, especially is he gets a quarterback coach who will work with him and help him on his mechanics. He's got the fire in his belly. He'll make everyone around him better.

12. I still think
Bush is going to be #1 (assuming he declares) no statistics to give you on this matter or anything that's just how I think. Vince Young on the otherhand if he declares I think will go to whatever team feels they need a quaterback the most. I think after the Rose Bowl game he might of raised his stock just a little bit. (okay a more than a little bit)

The draft will be interesting cause the Texans need a lot more help than one player and maybe we'll see some trading going on :).

19. Consider your ass kissed.
These quarterbacks will meet again, I think, it will be interesting to watch, a new Randall Cunningham, versus an absolutely classic pro-style drop back passer with tremendous skills.

The usual progression for a guy like Young is that he either keeps running in the pros and is badly injured by the larger and faster defensive players and thus has his career shortened, or he is forced to conform to the pro quarterback mold, and because he loses half his weapons, is not nearly as effective.

Interesting, anyway.

USC coach lost that game by going for the last 4th down, then taking the timeout before the 2 point conversion (and by failing to take a timeout so the refs could review the UT non-TD in the first half.

22. Couple thoughts---
* Fourth down call -- seems like USC's offense was doing better than their defense, and with 2-plus minutes left and Bush and Leinart on your team, I think he made the right call in going for it. I just don't think Texas -- make that V. Young -- was going to be stopped. Two minutes is an eternity in college football, even if you have to go 80 yards or more.

* Timeout call was made on the field by one of the players. The cameras showed a horrified Carroll on the sideline when they got the timeout.

25. Hah cha cha cha!!!!
Yeah, I'm not sure about Vince's long term pro prospects, either, but he's a hell of an athlete. We'll see. Someone will draft him for sure, and if he can develop into any kind of pocket passer at all, then he might have a longer career.

21. I can finally articulate how I feel.
Imagine that you have a sibling that is fabulously wealthy, extremely good-looking and wildly popular. Now further imagine that sibling wins the powerball. Then everywhere you go, people remind you that your sibling won the powerball and gives you that sad, wistful look. That's what I'm feeling right now.

But, congratulations on your adopted team's big win.

23. Let it all out, man.
I know that's gotta be somewhat painful, but you'll have your time again. College football, like any sport, has it's cycles. A&M will be back in the winner's circle and all will be right with your world. Meantime, you'll just have to put up with a lot of Orange for a while. It'll heal with time.

27. It's better to be defeatist and then be pleasantly surprised.
;)

We're fighting for #3 in the South now. Texas and OU have separated themselves and are getting the good talent. Tech is getting a lot what's left. We might have good years in the future, but I don't see us going undefeated again. We haven't done it since we stopped paying our players. ;)
