Interesting factoid re: Mt. Vernon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt_Vernon_IL

---"The town was named for George Washington's plantation, Mt. Vernon, which was named for Edward Vernon, a British naval hero. The name is a play on Mons Veneris"--

Mons Veneris? Really???

I had a chuckle over this. Mt. Vernon is Mrs. XNASA's hometown.

4. The Wikipedia definition mentions Illinois...
But I'll bet there are a number of them around the country.
We have a Mt Ranier in Maryland, near Washington, DC. The "Mount" is 130 feet above sea level...

2. THE Mt. Vernon, you know, in Virginia; George Washington's
slave plantation.

I knew that, even thought there is a Mt. Vernon here in Washington State, too.

3. I don't know, it is not much of a "town", more
of an "attraction". That is why I wanted clarification; there are many "Mount Vernon's".
