Calling all pyros: Coolest fireworks tricks?
Please don't set off fireworks in dangerous places...like the whole of Texas. But lets just say you had a pile of your favorite fireworks (and not just the legal kind either). What are you favorite tricks to do with them? Some of my old favorites are twisting a bunch of bottlerockets together to get a ton (my record is 7) going at once. Those little tanks are also fun to aim at eachother and have mini battle reinactments. Others?

and be careful, you wouldn't want your celebration to end up like this fire works factory: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/fireworkfactory.html

happy new years! :toast:

1. We used to take metal fishing pole holders - the kind that are a tube
with a long spike, that one drives into the shore of a river or lake, or then one cannot insert one's fishing pole in it and sit back and not have to hole the pole...

anyway, we'd take those, shove 'em in the ground, fill 'em with bottle rockets - we could get probably 36 or so of the smallish ones in it - and then set one of those sparking cones underneath. A big cone. Light the cone, and as it sparks, it keeps lighting the bottle rockets and sending 'em up.

A truly cool thing!

(our fishing pole holders were made of steel, so this was safe; do not with modern plastic ones)

3. We also had an anvil, and we would take it out to the field
and fill the hole on top with black powder, insert a fuse, lay a piece of steel rail (maybe 80 guage, weighed probably 50 pounds) on top, and light that fucker off.

KABOOOOOOOOM! It rattled the house and sent the rail often about the same height as the power lines.

That and the dynamite, and July 4 was always a fucking great night!

Ah, the benefits of having farmers in the family and a farm to celebrate at...

6. Pour gasoline on the pile, throw a match, and run.
Had to do something as a kid before the internet.

Other kool things...

Launching bottle rockets at night towards boats in the water.

Setting off fireworks from a tall building, especially bottle rockets straight down (hold a lightly taped rocket in a coke bottle with an oven mit).

Lighting a trash bag on fire from a tall height, watching the plastic flames drip.

Disclaimer: don't do this yourselves.
