Bean Soup Recipe?
I've got a ham bone that's just dying to be made into soup.

Anyone got any good recipes?

1. Here's one. You can substitute the ham bone for the ham hocks.

2. soak a pound of pinto beans overnight (NO salt at this stage)
in the morning, rinse them and put them in a large pot w/ the ham bone. Add several garlic cloves and two roughly chopped onions, and plenty of pepper, with salt to taste. Simmer several hours.

Serve w/ cornbread.

:9 I never appreciated this simple, delicious meal until I married a hillbilly.

3. My family puts the beans on top of the cornbread.
Add fried potatoes on the side and you have a Oklahoma favorite. :)

5. Good recipe.
Sometimes I add a diced carrot (fresh from my garden) for a bit of a sweeter taste that my daughter likes.
